Replaced the slave.. now it moves nice & smooth but still no luck so it might be the clutch disk.. Dang it! |
Re: Master & or Slave
Is it moving about an inch? Were there any funny noises before? Maybe you will get lucky and it will be the TOB. If not I will look for the told ya so smilie :D

Re: Master & or Slave
any quick fix ideas so I can limp it to MAP insted of paying $90.00 for tow?
|
Re: Master & or Slave
try pumping it, like I suggested. Then you will know if its a hydrolic issue or a mechanical clutch/TOB problem.
That clutch was put in right when I first bought that car, 84000 on the clock. Not sure what it has now, but I *never* launched the car, ever. I took very good care to drive the car quickly but not abusively :D |

Not hydrolic issue any more... gotta be mech.DOH! so the car isa @ about 110,000 now so like 26000 miles on the clutch. Do you remember what kind it was? 6 puck ??? ect ACT? |
Re: Master & or Slave
Im gonna guess it's your clutch disc. I had a similar problem this past summer and hoped for something simple too. I was getting rough shifts, sometimes it wouldnt go into gear, sometimes it would. Went into gear while not running, started car and car moves in first with clutch pedal down. I ended up with a torn up clutch disc. Found about 6 pieces if clutch :).

Re: Master & or Slave
Southbend DXD. I wonder if the previous owner launched it. No wait, he was young, probably didn't know how to drive. The kid could hardly use email so I don't know.
I would recommend replacing it with the same; I have one in my evo too, and I LOVE it. Talk to LSE about getting one, more info here: http://www.dxdracingclutches.com |
Re: Master & or Slave
Aren't Southbends famous for going out early? This isn't the first thread I've seen on this.

Re: Master & or Slave
Ok so a chunk of my disc broke off and lodged in the pressure plate, gotta love Southbend! Never again will a Southbend be in my car! Time to upgrade! Hopefully the holiday dosent slow down my cluth getting here too much. Sad not to drive my car :( & have to drive my wife in to work @ 4:30 AM just so I can have transportation... I'm tired lol.

Re: Master & or Slave
At least it didn't weld itself to the flywheel like usual.

Re: Master & or Slave
Car is still waiting for the clutch... holidays suck for getting parts fast.
ahhh southbend DXD http://i24.photobucket.com/albums/c2...Clutchq003.jpg http://i24.photobucket.com/albums/c2...Clutchq013.jpg http://i24.photobucket.com/albums/c2...Clutchq012.jpg http://i24.photobucket.com/albums/c2...Clutchq011.jpg http://i24.photobucket.com/albums/c2...Clutchq010.jpg http://i24.photobucket.com/albums/c2...Clutchq006.jpg http://i24.photobucket.com/albums/c2...Clutchq005.jpg http://i24.photobucket.com/albums/c2...Clutchq007.jpg http://i24.photobucket.com/albums/c2...Clutchq009.jpg http://i24.photobucket.com/albums/c2...Clutchq008.jpg |
Re: Master & or Slave
Looks like that clutch is just plain wore out. What kind of clutch are you going with, just a new disk?

Re: Master & or Slave
Competition makes a good clutch. Is the stage 4 an Ironman?
|
Re: Master & or Slave
Awesome, that should treat you well! I guess the guy that owned the car between you and me wasn't super good at driving a manual? :( Oh well, one less thing you have to deal with later!
