Are they exact in comparison to the comp cams? If that's the case I can get them a lot cheaper than what FP sells them for lol.

No they are not the same grinds comp sells.

Re: Which cams?

Its possible Comp just makes the "FP grinds" for FP only, but you could call Comp and see if you can get them. If that is the case its like Nissan 300zx Toga bearings, which are Kings packaged in tishue paper, but you can not get them straight from King.

Re: Which cams?

So Im thinking about going with the BC 288s. With springs and retainers. Do you think that these will be good cams for me?

Shane@DBPerformance 10-26-2007 10:59 AM

Re: Which cams?

You might have to get the valve guides shortened and moved, if the lifts are really that high. You might want to consider the FP3x, since you have a stroker and a normal turbo. Those BC288 look like they are made for a 74+mm turbo reving to 10,000.

Re: Which cams?

The thing is I dont know shit about cams. All these numbers just go over my head. I realize what they mean but have no clue like what matches up with what or what is optimal for my setup. I have a 20G now but I want to upgrade. Possibly a GT35 or something.

Re: Which cams?

I would do like Shane said and get the FP3x's. They are pretty good sized and made for a stroker.

Your springs are not titanium, just the retainer. Also you have way to much spring for the crower 414s.

Ya that is what I ment. Well it is better to have too much then not enough since ill probably upgrade here soon. What is the hurt to have too much spring?

Re: Which cams?

I think rst95eclipse had some FP3x's cams for sale awhile ago. I don't know if he ever sold them.

Re: Which cams?

You can wear out the cam, Crower says if you over sping the cam they have no warrenty, and you loose some HP.

Re: Which cams?

I noticed that no one has really spoke of CompCams much in this thread. I have a set of CompCams 101200 cams coming hopefully today (if freakin USPS Gets off their asses and delivers them.) I would like to know that im not putting some junk ass cams in my car.

Re: Which cams?

The comp cam profiles haven't been great from what I have seen. Cars were picking up a lot of power going to HKS'.

Re: Which cams?

So lets pretend I went with the FP3X cams and the FP springs and retainers. Would that be a good combo for, lets say an FP3575?

The biggest cams FP sells paired up with the largest bolt-on turbo they make? Yea that'd probably work haha.

JET 11-04-2007 10:39 PM

Re: Which cams?

Yes, those cams will work with anything you throw at it.

Re: Which cams?

It's too bad you need to upgrade to dual valve springs to use the FP3 cams, because that's what I'd want to use, but that extra $350 is a little spendy on top of buying the cams too.

Welcome to the world of real performance parts. After a while, making more and more power just costs more and more cash! :D
