Re: MAPerformance steps into the 9's @ 148mph
I agree on the track. That is where I ran 12's in my GTP. It hooked so good it made my car seem underpowered at first because it actually hooked itstead of spinning.
On the other hand I can see how it would make a car break really easily if it wasn't setup for hard launching. Like I said in the other thread; the street tires at Rock Falls was probably the only thing saving that car from breaking. Either way 9's is 9's and its a great accomplisment. |
Re: MAPerformance steps into the 9's @ 148mph
Congrats. I am envious and sad and happy for you (Tri polar eh?).

Re: MAPerformance steps into the 9's @ 148mph
Congradulations fellas!

Re: MAPerformance steps into the 9's @ 148mph
That's flipping awesome! Anything in the 9's is a major accomplishment. Did you guys install the legal cage for it yet? I'm surprised they didn't kick you out, but then again, it is Iowa.

Re: MAPerformance steps into the 9's @ 148mph
How's it feel to be #2 on the Fastest DSMLink cars of 2007 list ? ;)
|
Re: MAPerformance steps into the 9's @ 148mph
Well we would like to be #1, but considering the current leader is a tube chassis car running methanol on some built ass auto trans I would say we are pretty content with #2 :)
Oh, but we will be giving him a run for his money in regards to mph, we can get around that 156mph ;) |
Re: MAPerformance steps into the 9's @ 148mph
wow, very impressive can't wait to see the vids!
|
Re: MAPerformance steps into the 9's @ 148mph
Yeah, that mph is flying. There's a lot more in it with some practice, suspension tuning and better tires.

Re: MAPerformance steps into the 9's @ 148mph
Congrats! It's probably only a good 60' away from a mid 9. 8s aren't totally out of the question, even though it is extremely hard to get times down at that level. But isn't that Raptor's old super light chassis with Chris's 71mm turbo and nitrous?
|
Re: MAPerformance steps into the 9's @ 148mph
How much NAWZZZZZZZZz?
|
Re: MAPerformance steps into the 9's @ 148mph
It is Raptor's old car, but with Kyle in it it still weighs 2940 lbs per the track scale yesterday.
Yes we are using the PT71GTQ turbo and a 75 shot of nitrous. The downside is we were making boost adjustments throughout the day so we don't really know how much boost we were running, somewhere over 40 psi. We also don't currently have a means to log A/F besides the dyno and we didn't tune the nitrous on the dyno in fear of blowing the motor up lol. All we know if that when the nitrous was on we retarded timing 3 degrees and A/F went way rich just to be on the safe side. The car has a lot more in it, we just need some more time and some reliable axles! Chris |
Re: MAPerformance steps into the 9's @ 148mph
Pretty sure it's Mike's old drilled and perforated chasis!
*edit: woops chris beat me to it. |
Re: MAPerformance steps into the 9's @ 148mph
So basically 800 whp? Geez.
|
Re: MAPerformance steps into the 9's @ 148mph
Yeah, I don't understand. The car is still relatively heavy, even with all the weight reduction. 2700lb's with a quarter tank of gas.
Weight is going to have to come down at some point to run an 8. |
Re: MAPerformance steps into the 9's @ 148mph
Well, I would take 2700lbs over 3200lbs. :)
|
Re: MAPerformance steps into the 9's @ 148mph
I don't know if you can take any more out. Mike gutted that like a fish. lol
I'm glad you guys liked Tri-State. I love that track for drag racing. They really don't care what is out there racing, they will prep a track to make sure people keep coming back. |
