I posted the Superduke up in another thread. If I get rid of my bike, that is what I am getting! It's not nearly as fast as a rocket is, but is a hooligan bike. Lots of fun to play on and easy to get in trouble with!!

I like the RC 51 and the NSX.

I agree the GSX-R750 would be the best choice for you John. Your pretty little so that thing would scream. A 1K would be way to much bike for you, as they are for most people. Like Jet said, you barely use 50% of their potential because they are so wicked fast.

I had a 99 GSX-R750 and loved it. Plenty of power and I think Suzuki bikes in general are the best feeling bikes around. Hondas are nice and dependable but if you ride a Suzuki and then get right on a Honda you will see what I mean. They just don't feel the same.

Thank you all, so what about the other stuff, how long do the wear items last? and besides normal oil changes what else should be done to maintain a bike so it will last a long time?

You always want to make sure your tires are top notch. They are your lifeline in certain situations. I am sure Jet can't comment more on this, I never cheap out when it comes to bike tires. They seem to wear out pretty fast too.

Keep the chain clean and well lubricated.

I have some White Lightning for my pedal bike chain. Does that stuff work good on cycles too?

Also be sure that there is air in the tires, and your side mirrors are clean.

I'm not a bike nut, but I believe "Loud pipes save lives". I would also think the brightest HID headlights you can buy for a bike would be good as well(as well as day time running light HID's).

I hear that man, Every time someone starts to cut me off I crack the throttle & scare the shit out of 'em.

I also have a HID headlamp and it's bright as hell.

Re: Looking at bikes.

Not much maintenance on a new bike, change the oil every 2,500 miles (clutch uses it too) and lube and check the tension on the chain every 500 miles or so. Rear tires last about 3k miles and the front about 5k. Engines last 20k - 30k+ on most of the new rockets. Valve adjustment is usually 12-15k intervals.

Because you can jump it with the slight bit of clearance. Looks lighter, wouldn't be too spendy to dump it with the lack of body. That is of course, after they are a bit older.

And if it uses a KTM engine. I think them KTM engines are known for their reliability. Is this their first street bike? Not as in on/off road but you know, street bike, the kind you wouldn't go on the trails to your favorite fishing spot.
