I would agree with the .40 S&W as a good caliber to carry but my heart is with the Glock 17 9mm with a 16 round high-capacity mag.
If you are looking for a good CC gun I have a Baby Eagle .40 for sale (mini Desert Eagle) |

I dont see a point to getting a conceal and carry permit. Like before (some) people always carried guns in their cars. The only time you would possibly use it is when you are in a life threating danger. So if you use the gun, you will (hopefully) be using it to save or protect life. Then no one is going to worry about if you have a permit or not. I have not been in a war, but I have been around the block. I saw my friend get shot twice and his car got shot up. (Acura Integra GSR) In that instance another gun at the issue wouldn't have helped anything. Except for more rounds fired and more people injured or even killed. And as for Allens shotgun for when they are close idea. My neighbor walked out of his house and blew himself away with 12 guage point blank range while I was outside playing street hockey. You see it once, yo dont need to see it again.

sorry jet didnt know you hunted i would carry a bolt high power single shot too if that was the case, but i usually use my 870 express magnum 12 gauge huntling smallest amount of kick out of a 12 gauge possible the gun overall is put together well its light as hell and perfect for the brush, because it was affordible so it doesn't bother me to scratch it up a little.
