1 dimm is one stick of memory 2 dimm...i'll let you guess :) the reason for springing for a single slotted chip, is that you can upgrade without removing ram. |
Re: Laptop Options
Which one of these video cards would be the better fit as long as the $$$ difference is not an option?

Re: Laptop Options
Alright,
This is what I went with: Intel® Core™ 2 Duo processor T7200 (4MB Cache/2.00GHz/667MHz FSB) 2GB Shared Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM at 533MHZ, 2 DIMM 80GB 5400rpm SATA Hard Drive (for some reason they pulled the 7200rpm yesterday) 256MB NVIDIA® GeForce™Go 7300 TurboCache With minor upgrades on a few other things, I'd be getting this delivered to my door for right at $1330. if I did the following changes: 1GB Shared Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM at 533MHZ, 2 DIMM 60GB 5400rpm SATA Hard Drive I'd be at 1081.00 to my door. This is for the laptop only, no extended warrenty plans or package deal stuff with aprinters and such. Opinions? Anything in this list that would help with wireless internet speed and wifi? Dell Wireless 1390 802.11b/g Mini Card (54Mbps) [Included in Price] Intel PRO/Wireless 3945 Internal Wireless [add $26 or $1/month1] Intel PRO/Wireless 3945 Internal Wireless and Bluetooth [add $44 or $2/month1] Intel PRO/Wireless 3945 Internal Wireless, Netgear 802.11g wireless router [add $71 or $3/month1] Dell Draft N Internal Wireless [add $53 or $2/month1] Dell Draft N Internal Wireless and Bluetooth [add $71 or $3/month1] Dell Draft N Internal Wireless, Netgear Draft N wireless router,Bluetooth [add $197 or $6/month1] |

if not, get the netgear 802.11g with intel's internal card for 71 bones. That is not a bad price. The Draft N stuff is fast as chit at 300mb, but your inet connection isn't probly anything past 3mbps. so the 54mbps g band is more than enough. |
Re: Laptop Options
We do have a wireless setup at home that's based off out 3mbps cable connection. We have one laptop running off that right now.

Re: Laptop Options
JTF won't even run on my uber laptop (or uber uber PC) that well. It's probably running at low settings in really low resolution. Try upping the res and see what happens.

Re: Laptop Options
Yeah, my res is maxed, this sucks. I'll try it on the desktop later today and see what happens.
