Re: Proud New Owner...

i bought a zeitronix wb02. i really like the simulated narrowband output, and the display is really easy to read and has a huge range.

The Zeitronix looks nice and they have versions that can display other sensors. I am always a little warry of the TechEdge and PLX setups. I have seen too many of them that seemed to be reading way off.

What is your opinion of the AEM Wideband(from a tuners view)? Also do you know where I can Pick up the sensors I need and what to ask for when I get them. The AEM sensors are WAY to expensive for me.

Re: Proud New Owner...

Nice! ExtremePSI is awesome to work with. I got just about all my stuff thru Hung there.

BTW- I have the PLX m-250 that i got from Extreme for $246. This is all you need. Works great with Dsmlink and will be great for your AEM.

I've always been a fan of the innovative widebands (I have one in my car) and the AEM widebands (we sell these as well).

Both are great sensors and work well. Do you plan on using the automapping features with the ems?

Re: Proud New Owner...

I have no Idea. I dont know really anything about the EMS. Also It wont be in my car for awhile anyways.

Re: Proud New Owner...

Talk to Steve (GoatBlower). He runs an AEM. I'm sure he could give you advice.

Re: Proud New Owner...

I just went to the AEM website and checked out the forums for sensor info and this is what im gonna order...
GM boost control solenoid
Part #1997152
Pigtail for solenoid
Part #12102747

IAT Sensor
Threaded
Part #25036751
Unthreaded(plastic)
Part #12160244
Pigtail
Part #12102620

3 Bar MAP sensor
Part #12223861
Pigtail
Part #15305891

Now there are 2 different IAT sensors threaded and unthreaded(plastic). Which one would be better? Total cost about $150 from GMpartsdirect.com. Not too too bad.

Re: Proud New Owner...

I was also looking on SBR and they sell an AEM coolant temp sensor. Is that needed?

sleepydsm 05-17-2006 09:50 PM

Re: Proud New Owner...

I'd assume you'd want a threaded IAT, so it wouldnt blow out under boost?

Super Bleeder!! 05-17-2006 10:46 PM

Re: Proud New Owner...

do not EVER buy from SBR, you will save yourself a headache.

Re: Proud New Owner...

Yah Ive heard all the storys but I have gone through them a few times with no big problems

Re: Proud New Owner...

I would think the AEM would be over kill for a 20g setup, but I suppose you will get a better tune with it. I would have just got dsmlink. Cars are in the 9's with it. I would go with the innovat wideband. They are around $200 shipped on ebay unless you would want a guage display or something.

blageo23 05-17-2006 10:54 PM

Re: Proud New Owner...

Im not gonna stop with a 20G. And Ive been through it. DSMLink is what $700-$800 with ecu and for a couple hundred more I can have a full stand alone.

Super Bleeder!! 05-17-2006 10:59 PM

Re: Proud New Owner...

a full standalone that is probably far above your head, honestly.

dsmlink for the masses. aem for people who really know what they are doing.

blageo23 05-17-2006 11:08 PM

Re: Proud New Owner...

Noone was talking about self tuning this thing. Plus who says I couldnt research and figure it out by myself.

slowbubblecar 05-17-2006 11:21 PM

Re: Proud New Owner...

I went the dsmlink route because I thought the AEM would be way over my head and because it works well. People sell the whole dsmlink setup (secketed ecu, software and cable) for $700. That is less than half of the cost of just buying the AEM alone and probably equals about a third after you buy all the sensors and stuff.

blageo23 05-17-2006 11:35 PM

Re: Proud New Owner...

I got a hell of a deal on the AEM thats why I bought it. With buying the sensors it will still be well under retail price.
