Re: A DSMer's rant.
I really like your car, i think you should keep it and get it working properly, and would you really need a loan to fix all your problems? the tranny maybe but not a dyno tune. Your going to have the car for a while anyways because your asking price is about the same for my 2000 Eclipse GT. So lets say you get your asking price, what are you going to buy?

Re: A DSMer's rant.
I've been building my car since Sept of 1999. Like Allan Said only buy new, unless it's a part from someone you know and trust. may take longer to save but it's worth the less stress in the long run.
I've simply learned that if it's a daily driver stay away from the race tracks. Unless you have some other means of transportation and are willing to deal with the problems/headaches of breakage. Higher HP dsm's simply don't last long at the tracks. Typically the tranny's are the weakest area. they can take just about any street abuse you can through at it but the effects of launching at the tracks and full out 4 gear runs really take it's toll on the car. I raced 2 years with my FWD went through 6 tranny's in 7 months, I then stopped going to the tracks for 2 years and didn't go through a single tranny in all that time. Even though you could find me out of the streets all the time. As well as driving it to work and back. |
Re: A DSMer's rant.
I never buy used parts, thats never been an issue.

Re: A DSMer's rant.
Well minus the used tranny I bought ;) If I keep this, yes I'll get a loan for : Shep tranny, Eprom, magnus, cams, and a tune.

Re: A DSMer's rant.
Ultimately what are your goals with the car, as well as what is your life style? meaning is this your daily driver, is this your secondary car soi you can mod it with out worries, etc?
Once you know that then you know which way to go. Anyrate hope all goes well which ever way you go. |

Re: A DSMer's rant.
Haha, I know of someone selling a 1992 Honda Civic CX hatchback with 90k for $1600. Perfect car for me... that mean 70hp engine getting me 40+ mpg.

Re: A DSMer's rant.
I have been troubleshooting my phantom knock for who knows how long now, and the damn thing still has it. This single problem has now completely ruined my interest in DSM's.
