No one has mentioned IS300?

I love how the miata I test drove handled. They sound like tin cans and the FMIC is ridiculous looking, but other than that it's a damn fine car.

You have a lot of options for your price range, im sure you could even go with a S2K i would think.

Evo or 03-04 Cobra...

Audi/VWs are cars to avoid more than DSMs.

I've got a 99 Miata I've been driving around. It's a lot of fun and would be a real kick with some turbo power. Why buy a turbo one for big bucks when you're going to replace all that stuff anyways. I'm real impressed with the ride and handling, it feels like a real sports car should. Mine's even got some pimp rims. :D

Re: Time for a new car?

miata is a fine idea i think. stock na block can handle 400whp, and at that point you are probably looking at low 11s high 10s with a fun tossable car.

my dad just bought a miata, 99 6spd w/limited slip and 17k miles.

I heard the miata is a great drivers car.

You should check out the RSX-S you might like it?

Dont know if you like Toyotas or not but check out the Avalon... They are sweet cars. So comfortable and has some balls too. My buddys parents have one and the car is very nice. Good gas milage too. You can get a brand new 05 for 23k with warrenty and everything, fully loaded.

I just figured I'd be different and suggest something totally different then what everyone else has been saying. But if you really want, get a Evo or something similar.

For your own good, stay away from the european cars. Pick up the current(I think.. I just got it from the store last week) Consumer reports. It's the yearly auto issue. That'll give you a good idea of what is reliable and was isn't. That will cut down your choices some.

Re: Time for a new car?

^^Stating that all euro cars are crap is a pretty big statement isnt it? I really disagree... The only non euro car I or my family have ever owned was my eclipse and that was the most unreliable car we have yet to come across. Germans know what they are doing, they dont build tin cans ;)

It all depends on how you take care of the car....

Re: Time for a new car?

I would get either the G35 or the M3. They are both comfortable, fast, and look great. You don't have to sacrafice much with those cars. Some of the other cars listed are too one dimensional. I vote against an EVO for you because it would end up having 600+ hp and would go from being reliable to a race car really quick. A G35 would be perfect in my opinion.

Re: Time for a new car?

I vote G35, GTO, 03-04 Cobra. All can get pretty good milage depending on how they are driven and all are obviously fun and sporty with room for improvements should you decide to in the future.

Re: Time for a new car?

After having that Volvo S40 as a rental car, I want one so bad. It's probably not in the bag for me right now, but someday it'd be nice. The 2005 and up models, and interior is gorgeous! The one we had over there was a 6-speed turbo diesel, but I think the ones in the states are turbo 5cylinders, but I'm not 100% sure on that. I'd say it's worth taking a look at. You gotta sit in one to enjoy it I think, one of the nicer interiors I've seen.

A G35 is what I would like to get but I can't find one I like in my price range.
