Bout time Cobb got the Tephra shit. Too bad they dumped tephra too, but you got the important stuff :)

The final mod I'm waiting on is PSI-based boost control. I know it's functional on the 2008, but not 2010 yet for some reason.

Re: GheyrodX - bigger, fatter, gheyer!

The only other one I really want is NLTS, otherwise I am all good on my Tephra mods. 9 alt maps and living tuner will be cool too, but not necessary for me :)

Glad you finally get this stuff on Cobb though so now you get the full experience.

Re: GheyrodX - bigger, fatter, gheyer!

Oh right, NLTS too, I forgot about that :) At this point I've almost given up on it happening.

Pretty crappy pic, but I got a new toy for the car :)

http://www.mitsustyle.com/photopost/...m/IMAG0659.jpg

I picked it up from a 2008 Evo X and so far I'm really liking it! I'm in the process of getting all my CD's loaded into the internal 30GB HDD. I purchased a maps update disc from the dealership (2011, most current available) but it looks like the previous owner had already updated it to a 2010 map pack so I'm not going to bother updating for now since 1 year isn't worth $190 ($175+tax). Overall, it was a very simple plug & play installation; Sirius and Bluetooth worked right off the bat without needing any type of programming.

very nice! the 30gb hdd is cool, wish i had one in my car haha.

Are you going to mod it so you can watch movies?

Probably, I just need to figure out how :D

That is pimp.
There is no way it could be retro'd into a 8 or 9?

I suppose anything is possible, but it would probably be a whole lot easier just going with an aftermarket setup in the 8/9. I just wanted everything to be completely plug & play, retain all steering wheel audio and Bluetooth control buttons, and keep the factory Bluetooth mic rather than having to add an aftermarket one which is why I stuck to factory. Plus, the factory dash bezel is much nicer looking (and better fitting) than the aftermarket install kits are.

Its pretty easy to do, somewhere I still have the hack on a CD. Kinda wish the hack was allowed the AUX video input as well, but the hack isn't configured for aux input. Doah!

Yeah i thought about that after i hit post.
P&P is awesome, great mod. That is cool that they offer all the controls still so that you are able to do this. EVO X looks more appealing everyday i swear.

Do people race these as much as the 8/9? Do they turn as good?

Indeed they do. My X is quite a bit more nimble feeling than my IX was.

It really is a fantastic car; I love daily-driving it and am very happy with it even after 2 years of ownership. There are quite a few guys out there that track them on a regular basis (road course, auto-x, drag, etc.).

Have the link with the instructions and download for this hack? Mine has been updated to 2010 maps which I assume also updates the firmware, any compatibility issues regarding updated firmwares and this hack that you're aware of?

http://mitsubishiforum.com/forum/mit...nr261um-27471/

Check to see what version of the firmware you have this is most important to getting the hack to work. On the MMCS hold down set + navi for 5 seconds till the service mode appears, then select version information it should be in the top right corner of the first page.

Also you can add a larger hard-drive and customize the screens from here:
http://www.evoxforums.com/forums/sho...t=61427&page=2

Lastly the best parts of the MMCS, is the lap timer, customization's for the wipers/turn signals/alarm system/lighting, and service reminders. Keeps track of all the fluid changes, tires rotations, etc.

The 8 and 9s had this option everywhere else in the world, along with electronic HVAC/climate control and power folding mirrors. Mitsu just gave us the shitty stripped-down Lancer interior.

The problem is that you'd need to swap the dash and interior harness to fit it, and finding a wrecked Evo from another LHD country (Russia, Germany, etc) is probably pretty difficult.

Re: GheyrodX - bigger, fatter, gheyer!

From what the guys are saying above ol spaz. Sounds like I need to ride in a few more X's been looking at 9s, but the price is too much for a 6, almost 7 year old car. Plus that head flow on teh Xs = :sex2:

Kracka 06-13-2012 12:43 PM

Re: GheyrodX - bigger, fatter, gheyer!

Clean used IX's are holding value incredibly well, you can get a used '08 X for barely more and is what I would personally recommend, especially if you intend to daily-drive it. The 2010+'s have a few refinements each year over the '08, but the market reflects that in the used values. One cool thing about the '08's is a fairly large number of them were delivered to dealerships "fully loaded" with navi, aero, and the sport interior package.

Wow, that looks awesome in comparison to the old setup (I had to look at page 1 for reference). Nicely done, stock plug and play upgrades like this FTW.

Crazy you make that much power on 93, badass.

You think the short runner might perform better with a bigger turbo or more RPM?

Looks like the ported does perfect for everywhere on a street car.

Most likely. The only place the short-runner showed an advantage was in the upper RPM band. With these results, I'm going to stick with porting as my recommendation for stock and smaller stockframe turbos.

I agree, thank you. I should have just done the MAP ported from the beginning...

BLUE = PPI "extreme" ported
RED = MAP short-runner
GREEN = MAP ported

Re: GheyrodX - bigger, fatter, gheyer!

Ported stocker looks like a win to me. Not only dyno chart wise, but also keeps the setup simple / OEM under the hood which is always a plus in my book.

Kracka 10-03-2012 09:25 AM

Re: GheyrodX - bigger, fatter, gheyer!

I agree completely; plus it's much better for heat management, less risk of cracking, etc.

Murlo26 10-03-2012 09:26 AM

Re: GheyrodX - bigger, fatter, gheyer!

I compared all of these manifolds, the short runner was huge gains over ported stocker at ~550whp, baseline was like 525, and with short runner it was 550ish.

I'd post it here but not the right thread.

I agree though, on a stock turbo car the ported manifold is king.

I agree, with an EF4 and big power I think the tubular will dominate. We know how they compare on the EF2 and EF4...wonder how they'd stack up with an EF3?

Re: GheyrodX - bigger, fatter, gheyer!

^Well my testing was on the FPblack, but I get what you are saying :)

I wouldn't ever run the short runner personally though, I like American welded things. But the design is solid.

My friend down here does has a MAP long-runner just sitting in his garage... ;)

Kidding kidding, I'm done testing out exhaust manifold setups, I've made enough changes to that! Now if MAP were to place a Rev2/3 ported intake manifold in my lap... :D

Mike Rizz, said that is one of his reasons from getting away from a tubular manifold, he had 1-2 of them and he said the engine bay heat was terrible and they would fade/ruin his clearcoat on his CF hood.

It's making me want to stay with the FP cast manifold I have.

Ceramic coat it and call it good...maybe do a little cleanup porting too?

Murlo26 10-03-2012 10:32 AM

Re: GheyrodX - bigger, fatter, gheyer!

The OEM manifolds ported work very well, they are a bit restrictive for sure, but spool up is always a good 400-500 rpms better with them and heat is managed better and you get to keep stock heatshields on the Evo X anyway.

Still made 570whp+ on the FPblack with one, it held it back for sure but was adequate.

Both have great benefits.

New Girodisc S/S (orange) brake pads on the way...I don't need them yet, but they offered me an introductory price that's too good to pass up.

I hope so. I had terrible luck with their Magic pads (twice) so this is my final attempt at running this company's products. My current Stoptech pads are probably still good for at least another 10k miles so I'll probably swap these new ones in sometime next spring.

Hmmm...what is this?

http://www.mitsustyle.com/photopost/...m/IMAG0025.jpg

http://www.mitsustyle.com/photopost/...m/IMAG0026.jpg

A second compressor cover you say?

http://www.mitsustyle.com/photopost/...m/IMAG0024.jpg

Both covers have a 3" inlet for maximum airflow so that alone is a nice upgrade vs. the EF2, but we're also going to be testing standard vs. anti-surge to see how they compare. Stay tuned for data this weekend...
