TX is awesome, car is clean as always.

Re: GheyrodX - bigger, fatter, gheyer!
Sexeh!

Re: GheyrodX - bigger, fatter, gheyer!
Whiteline RCK FTW! Even with limited aggressive driving so far I can tell the front-end doesn't want to roll over on itself nearly as much anymore. Whenever I need a clutch I'll do a front anti-sway bar too and call my suspension done.
|
Re: GheyrodX - bigger, fatter, gheyer!
Nice. I am going to wait on this until later in the summer, don't want to realign so quickly.
What front sway you going for? |

Boo...one of my TPMS units is leaking, hopefully warranty will cover it since they're not servicable/rebuildable like most others on the market.

Re: GheyrodX - bigger, fatter, gheyer!
Reliable my ass...I'm working from home today...
https://fbcdn-sphotos-a.akamaihd.net...45934541_n.jpg Backing out of my garage yesterday afternoon the idle became unstable and I threw a P0300 random misfire code. I pull the plugs for inspection and above is what I found; the insulator had broken and dropped covering the electrode. Luckily it didn't break free and fall down into the cylinder! Nobody that stocks X plugs was open yesterday, and I was a newb and threw away my factory set, so the car sat until this afternoon when a local shop (Evolution Dynamics) stopped by with fresh set for me. Pathetic for a $60 set of OEM NGK plugs with only 11k miles on them (replaced @ 25k) if you ask me. The problem is, there doesn't seem to be any good alternatives as the only choice are $30/each HKS plugs which people seem to have knock issues with. I haven't driven the car yet, but it seems to be idling stable and normal with the new plugs. |
Re: GheyrodX - bigger, fatter, gheyer!
:( Hopefully you caught it in time man, that doesn't look good. I am guessing if there was an issue your idle wouldn't be stable.
I have gone through like 4-5 sets of plugs in 30k miles, it sucks. I always replace with new setups just to make sure. |

Re: GheyrodX - bigger, fatter, gheyer!
In my never-ending quest for perfection I swapped on yet another testpipe, this will be the fifth, and FINAL, pipe I use!
http://www.gearheadsonline.ca/shop/i...p?type=D&id=96 Fitment was absolutely perfect plus the resonator tones down the exhaust even further. I traded a local guy my ETS testpipe for it. |
Re: GheyrodX - bigger, fatter, gheyer!
Tonight I got my MAP firewall heatshield installed in preparation for the eventual install of my MAP short-runner exhaust manifold. Talk about a PITA install!!! All said and done I'm real happy with it though.

Re: GheyrodX - bigger, fatter, gheyer!
MAP short-runner has been installed! Tuning will happen next Saturday once the fancy new billet MAP TurboSmart WGA arrives.

Re: GheyrodX - bigger, fatter, gheyer!
In the pic above you can see both the firewall heatshield and the custom valve cover heatshield MAP fabricated for me. Personally, I think the valve cover shield should become a production piece since it fit quite nicely and should do a great job protecting the plastic valve cover.

Re: GheyrodX - bigger, fatter, gheyer!
Looks good! Did Paul, Spaz and Shawn give you a hand?
|
Re: GheyrodX - bigger, fatter, gheyer!
If you considering then chillin' at Cobb with me, then sure
|
Re: GheyrodX - bigger, fatter, gheyer!
lmao, shoulda known!
|
Re: GheyrodX - bigger, fatter, gheyer!
I'm glad I didn't even attempt it after listening to Cobb's tech bitch about the install! With the short-runner you need you remove the 2 factory studs from the turbo and install 4 shorter studs, then all sorts of crazy angles were needed to access the nuts attaching the manifold to the head due to the valve cover heatshield. All said and done though everyone at Cobb was impressed with both of the shields and really liked the setup.
|
Re: GheyrodX - bigger, fatter, gheyer!
Nice, what sort of gains are you expecting? 20-30whp? I forgot what turbo you have.
|
Re: GheyrodX - bigger, fatter, gheyer!
Turbo: MAP EF2X
As far as gains go though, I really have no idea. I think Murlo picked up +22whp switching from a ported/coated stock manifold to the MAP short-runner, but that was on a FP Black. My car was sitting at 411, I'd love to see 425 but even 420 I'd be thrilled with. I am getting to the point of pretty much maxing out my stock camshafts setup though so we'll just have the wait and see. |
Re: GheyrodX - bigger, fatter, gheyer!
Heat shields look great!
I always love the way you mod and maintain your vehicles. Straight perfection IMO. When you are ready to sell this car, hopefully I will be in the position to make an offer on it. |
Re: GheyrodX - bigger, fatter, gheyer!
Thank you!

Re: GheyrodX - bigger, fatter, gheyer!
Looks really nice! I'm impressed with the progress. Keep up the good!

Looks great!
Picking mine up today :) |
Re: GheyrodX - bigger, fatter, gheyer!
Pretty sweet looking internal gate.
|
Re: GheyrodX - bigger, fatter, gheyer!
Just got mine over lunch...some assembly required I guess lol.
You are sticking with the 18psi spring I assume Kracka? |

I figured you were going to stick with that one, was just curious though as I thought you were above 25, but I agree it makes sense for the 18. |
Re: GheyrodX - bigger, fatter, gheyer!
I run 27psig peak, but I want to make sure the WGA arm is able to have some pre-tension on it, I need some downward correction available for a 91-octane safe map, plus I don't want to combat any creep or spike issues. MAP's standard 25psig WGA has shown itself to be too stiff for my needs.
|
Re: GheyrodX - bigger, fatter, gheyer!
Too stiff, giggity.
|
Re: GheyrodX - bigger, fatter, gheyer!
New MAP Turbosmart WGA installed and retuned with Cobb AP TEPHRA MODS!!! It's nice having knock CEL and 93/91 map-switching back :)
Ported exhaust manifold: 411/367 @ 26psig Short-runner exhaust manifold: 416/374 @ 26psig Gains are gains, I'll take them! I think this really proves that my stock cams are pretty much maxed out and the bottleneck in my system at this point. Chart coming soon. |
Re: GheyrodX - bigger, fatter, gheyer!
Tell Kevin to crack the whip over there so we can get graphs to look at haha
|
Re: GheyrodX - bigger, fatter, gheyer!
Was that you that texted me this morning, well sat morning?
I was confused haha. |
Re: GheyrodX - bigger, fatter, gheyer!
That was me :)

Re: GheyrodX - bigger, fatter, gheyer!
Before and after (MAP short-runner exhaust manifold & MAP Turbosmart WGA):
http://www.dsmstyle.com/photopost/data/641/IMAG0649.jpg There is a noticable increase in the mid-range, that's where I'm really feeling it. Plus, the turbo seems much more responsive with this new WGA which makes sense since the WG was able to be properly tensioned, I wasn't able to run any pre-tension with the original 25psi WGA. Although spool does appear a touch slower, torque picks up a little bit quicker. Knock CEL is setup at 3 counts (slow) and 5 counts (fast), but I've yet to see a single flash even with two pulls to 140+ so far :D |
Re: GheyrodX - bigger, fatter, gheyer!
Very nice pump gas setup, Chris!
|
Re: GheyrodX - bigger, fatter, gheyer!
I was just out ripping around some more and this car is seriously the ultimate DD street car! Handling is spot on, it rips through the gears, reliability has been decent, and it drives smooth as stock.

Re: GheyrodX - bigger, fatter, gheyer!
Looking good buddy!
Bout time Cobb got the Tephra shit. Too bad they dumped tephra too, but you got the important stuff :) |
Re: GheyrodX - bigger, fatter, gheyer!
No Moar tephra @ Cobb?
