Oh, i thought we were talking about something different.
Yeah, its good when they giggle in teh car, my lady gets a smile on her face like something good is gonna happen. So far though she is the only girl i know that gets mad if she misses a race. |
Re: Dave's Evo X Build/The Life of Dave blog
At first I was talking about cars, then I jokingly switched, i think it was overlooked, lol.

Re: Dave's Evo X Build/The Life of Dave blog
Aaron you lucky bastard, my Wife gets all car sick and pissed off when I go to pass someone in the slow ass WRX haha
|
Re: Dave's Evo X Build/The Life of Dave blog
I think they call a girl that likes cars a keeper...from what i've heard, still looking.
|
Re: Dave's Evo X Build/The Life of Dave blog
When I was in TX, she said she misses the car esp. after I would go out on the weekends with it and tell her.
As long as I don't go to jail/get a ticket or something breaks she is down. Her butt dyno is good too, she knows how weak the car is at 25psi compared to 28psi and even remembers 35psi |
Re: Dave's Evo X Build/The Life of Dave blog
Well I have been talking to another national forum guy who is waiting for his black as well. He said he has talked with Robert and we are the only two getting the black right now. He will be doing a 2.3L stroker for his X though. He said he has gotten a few turbo's from FP for his X and it is always six weeks. So it will be close for my tune date, first friday in August, taking a long weekend, like a Friday/Monday off so I can drive the car and have fun with it.
If in two weeks FP still has no parts I will probably take Lomker up on his stock turbo offer and toss that onto my car for the breakin tune and shoot for all the stocker can make with probably 28psi and a shit load of timing. So anyway up for a turbo swap party if I do that? I really don't want to pay for the swap so if I can convince you guys with Beer/booze I will seriously consider the stock turbo route for break in :) |
Re: Dave's Evo X Build/The Life of Dave blog
Not quite sure what parts absolutely have to be replaced for a turbo swap. I think the lines use crush washers. Not sure about gaskets. One of those things I've been meaning to research.

Don't reuse crush-washers, oil drain gaskets, or the turbo compressor outlet elbow gasket.

In which case I am taking it to MAP after it breaks in a bit and going to get it running right on their dyno hitting the right load etc and go for the record! Assuming Mike is ok with all this, it would be his paperweight...i mean turbo. |
Re: Dave's Evo X Build/The Life of Dave blog
As long as I have a good core when you're done. ;)

I am by no means the most car savy guy around, but I try to be knowledgeable about them. Can't learn if no one teaches and people on this site let ya know if you are wrong :) Also....I don't think I will ever catch Lomker for biggest project thread. |

This is also the life of dave blog, gotta update it a lot:) Honestly I am just super ancy about my car because it has been so damn long since i have driven it. It is getting close to me getting it back and I think about it so much i update it more now, or find reasons to update it, lol. At first I was only trying to update it with major things. But going a little crazy without a fun summer car when its nice out. |

That bolded statement is why I got back into DSMs, I was without a car for 8 months or something and my brother had his del sol and shit so I was living at home and like I have $1k to spend what can i get I looked at everything under the sun and well inside I wasn't done with DSMs so i think that is how it all happened. So you are just waiting on a turbo now? |

Not sure if DB has started putting the new rods/pistons in yet but I will snap some pics. I am getting less and less confident FP will have my turbo ready any time soon, but trying to beat my old 353 stock turbo number would be interesting. It will be a good comparo I think, few bolt ons and E85 vs full bolt ons/headwork e85. See if the extra mods do anything on the stocker. |

Re: Dave's Evo X Build/The Life of Dave blog
Boom:
http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b2...6/300881a4.jpg Look all 4 pistons...so this is what the engine is supposed to look like. http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b2...6/4da6aec4.jpg http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b2...6/7c4ee458.jpg So I spoke with Danny...and here is where everything is at. They said they are waiting on Manley for my pistons still, they were supposed to there like 1 or 2 ago. But once those get there they are going to put the new rods/pistons in. Tranny is done and back, they said it looked perfect inside still so they just did the diff pins. The head will be done next thursday or friday as well, they had to order all new valve seals so it took a bit longer. Danny said he has called the guy a few times and apparently i am top on the list, but who knows, lol. So its all coming together. |
