No appointment yet. May 24th is my first HPDE @BIR so I'll try to get everything done by then.

Perfect fitment on the wheels! I love it when tires sit flush (or slightly in) with the fenders and don't stick out at all.

Also, just as a little tip, always tighten strut tower braces down with the wheels up in the air, this will take stress off the chassis so the brace holds things in proper place. Obviously this will make a bigger difference in cars without such a stiff and well braced chassis to begin with, but especially when tracking the car every little bit can help.

I assume you're saying to snug them and then torque it in the air? That's a bit too involved for the ramp so I'll have to do it when I have a garage to work in.

You don't have a jack?

A rather nice one. I don't want to get evicted from the association for working on my car in the ramp...they will actually foreclose on you. Parking ramps are considered shared space and any mishap would fall under the association's insurance, hence them having no sense of humor.

I'm willing to try my luck on small stuff but jack stands? No.

The rear strut tower brace is a bit time consuming since most of the trunk and the back seat back has to come off.

I love the Rexspeed hood dampeners! One is strong enough to hold the hood and they let it down at a proper rate for it to latch.

Nope. I'm surprised how many X's are in the Cities but they don't get on the local forums. I've invited a few from the national forums but they aren't interested.

I think I'm going to go get some stuff to debadge the car. Fishing line and adhesive remover? Eh, I'll give it a shot. I have a hair dryer that my ex left here. lol.

I used a heat gun on my car and it worked great. Just be careful not to get things too hot or you might bubble your paint. Heat and flaws or some kinda string works best imo.

I haven't seen a hood strut mount like that before from the pics it looks kinda cheapy, but it works I would like to see in person.

Yes! Someone just debadged the 'evolution' from my car and I think they used a foking razor blade and a screwdriver, its scraped to shit. :(

The mynes ones we gave away at the dyno day last year (and several of us have them on our cars) look identical, except for the CF finish on the strut. They're very reliable, and one of mine even survived the barrel roll :)

I'm not trying to talk shit, so don't take me wrong but teh way it mounts looks too universal (if that makes sense) I'm sure it looks better in person.

I need to do this, my hood blows up when I fart.

What!? No way. I put a few scratches on the trunk lid getting that black grommet-thing out of the trunk. Luckily that's covered by the wing mount.

I also found a door ding today. I'd hoped I could go a while longer before that happened, but I guess not. Assholes are everywhere.

It's definitely universal. So is the wing I just bought, excepting the mounts. Same sort of deal. They'd never make enough money doing something custom just for an Evo X.

I'm going to drop the car off with Shane for a few days next week...he's going to find some time for the tune. Awesome!

I sent Jeff an email for an appointment.

I'm going to pull the fuel pump tonight to get the suction line back in there. It'll be nice to reinstall the back seat, anyway, since it does keep some noise out of the car.

Hope you went through track time to save a few bucks. If you didn't, maybe you can change your date if you already paid and re-register through track time. All track time does is make it slightly cheaper to run the same events.

I did! I'm going to do every date at BIR this Summer.

Instead of going on a vacation this Fall I decided to take those Mondays off and stay at a hotel in Brainerd one night per month. Go to a bar & grille the night before and kick back. It'll be good.

That would be nice.

I will be going to the long course this weekend with the BMW club. They will be having run groups instead of open track. There weren't many opportunities to run the long track last year and the price isn't too bad though.

I will probably try to go to the tracktime MAM event this year. I went for a group day last year and that is a fun track as well. Nothing you could really hit if you were too aggressive either.

Ripped that rubber strip on the bottom of the Aero front lip off the car for good this morning--it was hanging down again after scraping on the way out of BDP's parking lot last night. I guess the right thing to do would have been to back out of there.

I need to consider whether I want to drop the car any farther than it is. That rubber piece is expendable but cracking lips every two months (due to poor judgment) would get expensive. I need to start being paranoid about clearance...

Dropped my car off at DB this afternoon for the tune. I am having fun with the video camera. Shot a quick video of the engine bay and exhaust note today. Either I've gotten use to the exhaust or it's actually quieter now than when I first picked it up...not sure which.

Welcome to cars.

I've been approaching driveways at angles greater than 45 degrees for over a decade now.

I think you meant 'welcome to sports cars'. Yeah, no kidding. I did exit at what I thought was a steep angle...one corner toward the other but in the end I just shouldn't have gone in there to begin with. I just hate parking my cars on the street.

I was checking the GPS location of my car this morning and it looks like it's out on a road test. That'd be good news.

What kind of gps tracker do you have in your car?

I bought a Zoombak. I've found some cheaper alternatives since I purchased it so I'll switch to something else when the one-year subscription is done.

Zoombak was designed more for snoopy parents that want to monitor their kids, rather than just for theft tracking. The plus-side is that you can open a web browser and ping the thing whenever you are bored (I have an IT job, so that's altogether too often).

The ID2000 injectors are installed and they did a boost leak test. It sounds like we're still on track for the tune by end of business on Friday. Works for me.

Hope things go well so you are able to go to the Monday track day. I was at the BMW event this past weekend on the long course and had a blast.

Radiator hoses hold up this go-around? TTM has one date with the long course...that'll be fun. I've obviously never gone flat out in 5th before.

I've asked Shane to give me two tunes--an aggressive one for numbers and a pretty darn tame one for my HPDE days. I'll probably just run the tame tune 99% of the time. I'm not Ryan Gates or anything. lol.

I've got a ton of new parts on a car that hasn't been pushed that hard yet. I'm wondering about heat management (now that I have a tubular without a heat shield) as well.

The stock brake fluid isn't a good thing at this point, either. Need to see if scheides has time next week to supervise stainless line install and a fluid flush.
