Re: Evo X upgrades
When are you going to see jeff? I like the offset on these, seems just right.

Re: Evo X upgrades
Perfect fitment on the wheels! I love it when tires sit flush (or slightly in) with the fenders and don't stick out at all.
Also, just as a little tip, always tighten strut tower braces down with the wheels up in the air, this will take stress off the chassis so the brace holds things in proper place. Obviously this will make a bigger difference in cars without such a stiff and well braced chassis to begin with, but especially when tracking the car every little bit can help. |

Were u cruising uni last night?
Some X owner that color was doing pulls up and down uni in his awesomely amazing X |
Re: Evo X upgrades
The rear strut tower brace is a bit time consuming since most of the trunk and the back seat back has to come off.
I love the Rexspeed hood dampeners! One is strong enough to hold the hood and they let it down at a proper rate for it to latch. http://mlomker.typepad.com/.a/6a00d8...0a026c2970c-pi http://mlomker.typepad.com/.a/6a00d8...0a026d2970c-pi http://mlomker.typepad.com/.a/6a00d8...0a026cb970c-pi |

I think I'm going to go get some stuff to debadge the car. Fishing line and adhesive remover? Eh, I'll give it a shot. I have a hair dryer that my ex left here. lol.

Re: Evo X upgrades
I used a heat gun on my car and it worked great. Just be careful not to get things too hot or you might bubble your paint. Heat and flaws or some kinda string works best imo.

Re: Evo X upgrades
I haven't seen a hood strut mount like that before from the pics it looks kinda cheapy, but it works I would like to see in person.

I'm not trying to talk shit, so don't take me wrong but teh way it mounts looks too universal (if that makes sense) I'm sure it looks better in person.
I need to do this, my hood blows up when I fart. |

I also found a door ding today. I'd hoped I could go a while longer before that happened, but I guess not. Assholes are everywhere. Quote:

I'm going to drop the car off with Shane for a few days next week...he's going to find some time for the tune. Awesome!
I sent Jeff an email for an appointment. I'm going to pull the fuel pump tonight to get the suction line back in there. It'll be nice to reinstall the back seat, anyway, since it does keep some noise out of the car. |
Re: Evo X upgrades
Sweet! Can't wait to see your results.

Instead of going on a vacation this Fall I decided to take those Mondays off and stay at a hotel in Brainerd one night per month. Go to a bar & grille the night before and kick back. It'll be good. |

I will be going to the long course this weekend with the BMW club. They will be having run groups instead of open track. There weren't many opportunities to run the long track last year and the price isn't too bad though. I will probably try to go to the tracktime MAM event this year. I went for a group day last year and that is a fun track as well. Nothing you could really hit if you were too aggressive either. |
Re: Evo X upgrades
Ripped that rubber strip on the bottom of the Aero front lip off the car for good this morning--it was hanging down again after scraping on the way out of BDP's parking lot last night. I guess the right thing to do would have been to back out of there.
I need to consider whether I want to drop the car any farther than it is. That rubber piece is expendable but cracking lips every two months (due to poor judgment) would get expensive. I need to start being paranoid about clearance... |
Re: Evo X upgrades
Dropped my car off at DB this afternoon for the tune. I am having fun with the video camera. Shot a quick video of the engine bay and exhaust note today. Either I've gotten use to the exhaust or it's actually quieter now than when I first picked it up...not sure which.

Re: Evo X upgrades
Sounds good!

Re: Evo X upgrades
Finally dropped it off, good shit.
Sounds good to me, that ain't too loud at all:) |

Zoombak was designed more for snoopy parents that want to monitor their kids, rather than just for theft tracking. The plus-side is that you can open a web browser and ping the thing whenever you are bored (I have an IT job, so that's altogether too often). |
Re: Evo X upgrades
So was your car out on test runs?
Is it/was it on the dyno today? |
Re: Evo X upgrades
No word from Shane. He probably came in early today to spend a little time on it.

Re: Evo X upgrades
The ID2000 injectors are installed and they did a boost leak test. It sounds like we're still on track for the tune by end of business on Friday. Works for me.

Re: Evo X upgrades
Hope things go well so you are able to go to the Monday track day. I was at the BMW event this past weekend on the long course and had a blast.
Just remember to keep all four on the ashphault ;) |
Re: Evo X upgrades
Good luck getting everything done this week!

I've asked Shane to give me two tunes--an aggressive one for numbers and a pretty darn tame one for my HPDE days. I'll probably just run the tame tune 99% of the time. I'm not Ryan Gates or anything. lol. |

Tame tune? Pssh, lame :)

The stock brake fluid isn't a good thing at this point, either. Need to see if scheides has time next week to supervise stainless line install and a fluid flush. |
