For what I'm blowing on this ride, I sure hope it scares me a little. :D

omg dude, I'm sorry, that sucks. Hopefully it can be fixed easily with a bit of drilling and tapping.

mlomker,

Oh noes! Bummer! So does this mean we may need to sacrifice some virgins to get rid of the curse?

I think it is time to go buy a lottery ticket cause your luck has no where to go but up.

The streak continues...simply stunning that Mitsu could choose to give you this one.

It will all be worth it I am sure!

It is fast, but maybe it's the fact that I drive my car daily and am used to it, or maybe i am misremembering, but i swear my evo 8 felt quicker, obviously not faster, but quicker.

It has to be the peaky powerband of the X and big ass curb weight, but I still don't feel impressed with my car. It feels awesome no doubt, but i want my car to feel fast when i drive it hard.

The strip this weekend should put things into perspective more, but i am yet to feel truly amazed.

I am done for a while though, need to concentrate on house things and sick of spending money on the car, time to enjoy it.

Last time we'd talked you'd never launched the car...have you done any practice? I'm wondering what that'll be like with a six puck.

I don't think anyone wants their car to be down now that it's warm out.

I'm down to gauges and cosmetic stuff once I have the car back.

Re: Evo X upgrades

Maybe I missed it above, but do you know when you'll have it back?

I have been practicing some aggressive driving, still haven't done full out launch from stop, i am scared, lol.

I have been doing some higher rev drops from a stop but it still bogs. Shane raised my 2 step to 6k so I will get a few in before Saturday to see how it works, just need to find somewhere to do it. The six puck seems to like hard shifting better than soft. It seems the harder i slam it and abuse it the smoother it works (sometimes).

I still get some fuel dumping in between shifts, seems like when it's cold, but when it shifts right it is awesome.

No idea...Shane said he was bringing the cam cap to MAP but I don't know how long they'll need to have it. Once that's back then it depends on Shane's schedule again...and then we're on to whatever the next problem is. :Flush:

*sigh* I'm with you man.

murlo, don't practice too much on the street, the conditions on the track will be slightly different. Just try rolling off the line a few times, focus on getting down the track and through the gears smoothly. Then worry about getting aggressive :)

Re: Evo X upgrades

Dont worry. I had to wait over a month just to get my head resurfaced and some valve springs installed.. It will be all worth it once you get it back. Also Murlo, launching with a 6-puck, you REALLY need to slip the clutch out. A LOT. They like to bite and grab very quickly.

Kevin 1G Drummer 04-30-2010 12:52 AM

Re: Evo X upgrades

I didn't have to slip the 6 puck in my dsm hardly at all. It grabbed so quickly that the tires just spun through first unless I pedaled it. It actually pulled harder if I didn't let it slip much. I can't wait to get the 6 puck into the 240. :)

Um, I would say you need to practice on the street as much as you can really, more practice the better, assuming you go to RFR or BIR, it will be a lot more slick there, my car always felt like it hooked better on the street.

I've been to both tracks.

^lol.

At bir on a wed night I almost went into the wall a bunch of times this was with 210hp and toyo T1Rs.

I usually cut 1.7s and 1.6 is my best, on all seasons, 1.6 was on some craigslist all season for $100 for 4, Never ran a serious tire or trans.

Re: Evo X upgrades

Yup. Then we can figure out how we want to break it in prior to tuning. At this point I'll be excited just to have it idle!

Re: Evo X upgrades

Having a car that idles is cool...better than a car that sits;)

Can't wait to see results on this, i might stop up at DB tomorrow to talk with Shane/danny about my car, ill have to check yours out!

It's alive!

I had it running for a bit today, then changed the oil/filter, and then drove it around a little doing some vacuum coast down pulls to try to help seat the rings. No leaks or anything weird so far. I would like to run it for a few miles on the dyno doing some coast down high vacuum pulls to further seat the rings in.

Dunno. This email was at 9pm saying my car was currently on the dyno for some break-in. Sounds like he's working some crazy hours.

Typical shane. Everyone fuk's off and leaves him alone after hours, that's when he gets the real biz done ;)

mlomker 05-06-2010 10:26 AM

Re: Evo X upgrades

Says he has 28 cars at the shop and can barely close the doors at night. In light of that I'm going to pick up my car and run it with the prior tune for a couple weeks (or whenever I can work into his regular tuning schedule). He said he added 9% to fix the fuel trims so there's a little more airflow going on with this setup. :D

Breaking it in can't hurt and after two months without an Evo, I think I have enough patience to wait a few weeks for 400whp. This'll give me time to finish up the cosmetic stuff that I have on the to-do list, as well as gauges. Need to make an appt with Jeff for a corner balance/align as well.
