Re: My Winter Upgrades
Wow. You should get a timing chain, they are baller and never fail like that. What prevented you from just sliding it back on?
|
Re: My Winter Upgrades
Look closely at the second picture. You will see that the bolt for the tensioner pulley is backed halfway out. And that is allowing the pulley to move around, which was why the belt was sliding off.
Had to replace that bolt with a new one as that bolt backed out, and the threads got all fucked up on it. |
Re: My Winter Upgrades
Dang, your tensioner is loose! lucky guy.
|
Re: My Winter Upgrades
Wow nice catch. Best of luck at the track man.

Re: My Winter Upgrades
I'm on the right :)

Re: My Winter Upgrades
Wow! Nice trap speed! Very impressive time/speed for your first time ever to the strip!
|
Re: My Winter Upgrades
t'was a great day at the track to have seen your virginity being popped. Too bad that clutch didn't like launches..a 10 MIGHT have been had.
|
Re: My Winter Upgrades
What clutch are you running?
|
Re: My Winter Upgrades
Running a Fidanza 4.3. Overall seems to hold my power very well, but it was pretty apparent today that it hates launching. 3 of my 6 runs I had to cut short because of the clutch slipping. I don't put all the blame on the clutch, as I'm sure I'm not launching perfectly and slipping it a little too much at the launch. But on the last two passes, I felt like I didn't really slip it too much, and still it just wouldn't hold.
So a different clutch may be in the future. Otherwise, yeah for my first time ever, I am extremely happy with those times. I know in time, with some more experience and seat time, I should be able to knock a few tenths off and be into the 10's. Maybe a cage will have to be in my future also... |
Re: My Winter Upgrades
u were one of the highlights today at the track slippage or not.
|
Re: My Winter Upgrades
Again, freaking impressive trap dude, the car has a 10 in it for sure. Vid looks great!
|
Re: My Winter Upgrades
This experience also made me realise that I need some better brakes. Slowing down from 135 is interesting on stock brakes...
|
Re: My Winter Upgrades
Let me know if you want some brake info/advice. I spent a bunch of time researching for my DSM's, S2k, and Evo.
|
Re: My Winter Upgrades
Sweet man!
|
Re: My Winter Upgrades
Very nice time/mph Brandon! Sucks to hear about your clutch, hopefully you can get that sorted out. And yeah, stock brakes definitely aren't the best when you're running those kind of speeds.
|
Re: My Winter Upgrades
Great time for a first time and excellent trap speed. That car is a monster for sure.
|
Re: My Winter Upgrades
Thanks to Kerry for letting me sit in his Eclipse and try out his 2900. I haven't pushed on a 2600 in awhile, but it almost felt a hair lighter then a 2600 if my memory serves me correctly.
Definately the clutch I'm going to go with. |
Re: My Winter Upgrades
No problem, nice talking with you.
|
Re: My Winter Upgrades
Clutch is on order, should arrive sometime next week :)

Re: My Winter Upgrades
Well when I dynoed awhile back, we noticed my wideband readings were off a bit (mine was reading leaner) from DB's numbers. The other day it was showing I was running really lean. I started to richen it up, but got to a point where I was reading 12.0, and the more fuel I added to lower that, I started seeing knock (rich knock??). I have a feeling my 3-year old sensor is maybe getting a little worn out so I'm going to pick up a new sensor. Now I'm glad I did the research ahead of time to make sure the wideband setup I bought used the cheaper standard bosch sensor found standard in VW's.
So I did a bunch of searching for the best local prices. For anyone that also uses a wideband unit that uses the standard bosch LSU4 sensor, here's a link to one of the cheapest prices I was able to find for one of the sensors, at a local parts store. Hopefully it'll help someone out. Mine will be at the store in 2hrs. :) http://shop.oreillyauto.com/ProductD...pe=291&PTSet=A And as for the clutch situation, I don't have much time so Momin is doing it for me. Dropped the car off with him yesterday, so it should easily be done by the 31st for the track again :D |
Re: My Winter Upgrades
Picked the car up today from Momin, so another big thanks to him.
One thing that's immediately noticeable to me is that there is much less chatter on this setup than there was on the 4.3 setup. Clutch pedal is a little heavier, but doesn't feel any worse than a 2600. It'll take me a little bit to get completely used to. Going to take it easy on it for awhile. Should be plenty ready for the track in 2 weeks :) |
Re: My Winter Upgrades
Good to see and cant wait to see how you do at the track next time.
|
Re: My Winter Upgrades
Woot!
|
Re: My Winter Upgrades
Well I hope you go on sunday the 31st cuz thats when I will be going!
Congrats on the new clutch setup. I hope it does you well |
Re: My Winter Upgrades
Fucking thieves!!
|
Re: My Winter Upgrades
Ok you cant do that... thats just like thanking DB for tuning and not posting numbers. WTF happened?
|
Re: My Winter Upgrades
No diggity doubt!

Re: My Winter Upgrades
Sorry, I was pissed off, and had to go because the police arrived.
Someone got into my garage last night, and got into the car. Didn't take anything all that valuable, but they did steal my subwoofer, my tuning laptop (along with the DSMLink cable, any DSMers wanna confess?), the change out of my ashtray, and my fuckin car key (although I do have a spare). Big thanks to Nick at Brookdale Mitsu. He is overnighting me a new ignition cylinder so whomever has my key, cannot start the car. Nick gave me some contact info to a locksmith, who will be converting all my other key cylinders as well, so that old key they took will be useless. I was planning on getting a lot of tuning done this weekend, but fat chance of that since they stole the damn cable. I have another laptop to use, but no cable means no Link. Does anyone have a cable that I could borrow for a few days until my replacement arrives from ECM Tuning? As of now, that's all I know is missing. When I get home after work, I'll be scouring through everything in the garage to find anything else that might be missing. |
Re: My Winter Upgrades
WTF! That sucks ass brandon :( I'm sorry dude.
|
Re: My Winter Upgrades
I FUCKING HATE thieves. I totally know how it goes as my old house was broken into last year, still fresh on my mind. Ya feel personally violated. My car was left alone for the most part, but my bedroom, was TORN apart..EVERYTHING.
|
Re: My Winter Upgrades
Wow, how did they get in the garage? Lifting the door is kinda impossible unless they went into the house somehow. Or was the garage open?
Strange that they stole the dsmlink cable... that points me to the fact that its someone on here. |
Re: My Winter Upgrades
or someone who knows what it is..reward for the person that comes up with info. I'd stab a bitch.
|
Re: My Winter Upgrades
For some reason I thought with DSMLink V2 the cable and board/chip in the ECU were married to keep people from counterfeiting it like people did with DSMLink V1. I am not sure if that is correct though.
|
Re: My Winter Upgrades
My understanding is that is correct for 2G's. On a 2G V2 setup, the cable is your proof of purchase. If the cable gets stolen, then you're more then likely going to end up buying Link all over again.
On a 1G however, the board in your ECU is your proof of purchase, and the cable is fairly simple. I got an email back from the Tom at ECMLink. He is saying a replacement cable isn't a problem, just a matter of when it'll arrive. Anyone have one I can borrow for the weekend? |
Re: My Winter Upgrades
First of all, I feel for you Brandon, that sucks!
What do the cops think? From your description of what happened, I wouldn't be so sure its a DSMer. We have had our mail and one of our cars broken into and the cops say its usually meth addicts that steal stuff around here. They are looking for anything they can grab quickly and steal stuff like laptops, them grabbing the link-cable could be them simply thinking its a power cord or something necessary for the computer to function. Also the fact that they took the time to grab change makes me think common thief as opposed to your car being specifically targeted. Hopefully you'll find out more when you get home and have a chance to look around some more. When they broke into my wife's car they grabbed everything that wasn't bolted down, camera, cd's, change, water bottles, everything. Once they left they started to toss whatever they didn't want out the window of their car. I found all of her non-country cds scattered over the next couple blocks from our house the next morning. Maybe your dsmlink cable is laying on the road nearby, fat chance but worth a look around the neighborhood. The cops who came to my house told me they will grab everything they can and then start tossing anything they don't want or can't sell quickly somewhere near by. I have a link cable but its for V2 and for my 2g so it probably won't work but you are welcome to use it if you need it. God I hate thieves! |
Re: My Winter Upgrades
Sorry to hear, dude. :(
|
Re: My Winter Upgrades
I reported it to my Association. Sounds like I'm not alone. 1 other burglary report was made as well.
I agree it's starting to look less like I was specifically targeted. But still, crappy situation. But I'm trying to look on the positive side. Considering what they took, and what they COULD have taken, in a way you could say I lucked out because it could have been a lot worse. |
Re: My Winter Upgrades
Tom over at ECM Tuning told me a cable is no issue. I ended up buying the new USB cable. Hopefully it comes soon.
But if anyone has one I can borrow for the weekend, please let me know!! |
Re: My Winter Upgrades
That does suck man, sorry to hear. Glad to hear there wasn't any damage to the car though, it could have been a lot worse!
