Re: the evo 3 swap parts are coming
Just when I thought this couldn't get any better... It does! :wank:
I've shown this project to a few of my instructors out here at WyoTech and they are damn impressed! That manifold is pure sex! |
Re: the evo 3 swap parts are coming
Hey Mark, I don't suppose you would know or could do a quick measurement of how far apart the front brembo's mounting bolts are center to center, maybe rears too if you have them laying around. I am looking at other sources for brembo calipers. I'm thinking about using calipers from an AMG Benz, something like this because of the way they mount...
http://i4.ebayimg.com/04/i/000/f5/1f/d496_1.JPG I am just trying to get an idea if that would be simpler than either buying jdm galant knuckles or the route you are going with the Evo III. |

Re: the evo 3 swap parts are coming
the rears bolt right on to a 2g so there is no modding for them. I will have to see what the fronta are but they are not much diffrent from the 2pistion set up mabe like 1/2in or so for bolt spacing if even that. For that style brembo you will have to make one big thick bracket that will bolt to your knuckle and bolt top to bottom though that one. the brembo brakes off a evo,sti,350z,skyline r34,sentra v-spec are all the same so they dont have to be off a evo. But they are getting cheaper on ebay
|
Re: the evo 3 swap parts are coming
I knew the backs were no big deal to swap out. I realize the front bracket would have to be pretty damn thick, but in the end that would seem to be a less work than the grinding and what not. That and if I happened to get 6 piston brakes or something then oh darn, something a little different than others are running. I had assumed the sti, 350z etc brembos were all the same, hell the ones on my mustang likely are the same as well...Just seeing what is available and trying to decide which direction I want to go right now.

Re: the evo 3 swap parts are coming
also got the replacement climate controler yesterday from the UK and put it in and it works great
and here is why the first one went out. the fan motor was rusted probley from sitting as a front clip for a while got wet and rusted. It froze up and back feed the power back to the controler and burnt it out. http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o...o/DSC04365.jpg http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o...o/DSC04366.jpg |

Re: the evo 3 swap parts are coming
got more done today on the car with the help of my dad Ken. We got the water bottle mounted after cutting a big hole in the sheet metal to the top of it so it can be filled easy. Got the boost pressure switch installed and set to 20psi to come on and stay on till 27psi. Had to take off the front bumper to get the 2 oem evo III water sprayers in. Als fixed the front bumper with some alum rivits to hold it were it has to be. The bumper did not have the tabs on it when I got it and has been lose sense it went on the car. last thing we did was take out the amp rack and put in the rear cusco tower bar.
water jets http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o...o/DSC04372.jpg hose routing w/pressure-vol nipple http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o...o/DSC04373.jpg were the hole was cut right by the P.S. resvore http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o...o/DSC04375.jpg the bottom were the evo abs was to start with that never went into my car(pic before brackets were made) http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o...o/DSC04376.jpg with the bumper back on http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o...o/DSC04378.jpg |
Re: the evo 3 swap parts are coming
were the bumper was reatached
http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o...o/DSC04374.jpg cusco rear tower bar that sits behind the amp rack http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o...o/DSC04379.jpg |
Re: the evo 3 swap parts are coming
Sweet. Is the boost pressure switch independant from other systems?
|
Re: the evo 3 swap parts are coming
it is seprate
|
Re: the evo 3 swap parts are coming
do the water jets spray the IC to drop the temperature of it? sorry, noob question!
|

Re: the evo 3 swap parts are coming
ah ok, next noob question.
why would an IC not be able to cool the air enough (down to the temperature of the air outside)? would the IC not be big enough - not letting the air spend enough time inside it to cool down? |
Re: the evo 3 swap parts are coming
High boost and multiple runs gets everything pretty hot and water would help then. A bigger intercooler would help too but I think you're pretty limited on space right Mark?
|
Re: the evo 3 swap parts are coming
With my big intercooler it still gets hot to the touch on the hot side and a few inches in on the core after only a few 40-70 second autocross runs. I can only imagine what it would be like if the core was smaller. I haven't yet felt the need to spray it after a run because the IC piping and intake manifold are still able to be touched.

Re: the evo 3 swap parts are coming
Shoulda done an aquamist alky injection instead ;) More effective than this sillyness :D :D :D
|
Re: the evo 3 swap parts are coming
with out moving a ton of stuff I can put anything bigger on for a fmic.
no alky for the car. It will be on e-85 when v3 link comes out for evo 1-3. ;) |
Re: the evo 3 swap parts are coming
got the big alen head bolt today and got them in and they work alot better than the bolts that were cut.
http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o...o/DSC04380.jpg also got one of the front brembos painted. it is a heavy metal flake blue that is close to the cusco blue. The pics dont do it any favors. it was sanded down with some 400. 1 layer of primer,3 coats of blue,hi temp brembo sticker,3 coats of clear http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o...o/DSC04381.jpg http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o...o/DSC04382.jpg http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o...o/DSC04383.jpg |
Re: the evo 3 swap parts are coming
Lookin good, now put them in with the new wheels!!
|
Re: the evo 3 swap parts are coming
Very nice!
|
Re: the evo 3 swap parts are coming
got all of the brembos painted now
http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o...o/DSC04384.jpg http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o...o/DSC04385.jpg also went to the junk yard today and they had a 5g mirage so I snaged the arm rest out of it. No more crappy plastic one for the car anymore. To top it all off it was dirty as hell and was 2.00 because of that, nothing a carpet cleaner could not fix http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o...o/DSC04386.jpg |
