Re: Dave's Evo X Build/The Life of Dave blog
Basically, make the Evo function just like any real FlexFuel vehicle...put in whatever blend you want and the ECU interpolates the E10 and E85 tune to correct based on the ethanol sensor's reading.

Re: Dave's Evo X Build/The Life of Dave blog
I didn't know the 8/9 guys had this already, cool.
Yea, I am looking forward to it, then I can toss whatever I want in there. I will still always be using E85, but now no more multiple tunes for e70 vs e85...and in worst case scenario I will have the ability to use pump without screwing around. V2 is done I think, its just in testing. I won't hold my breath for sure but I am still looking forward to it. |
Re: Dave's Evo X Build/The Life of Dave blog
Wow that sounds badass.

Re: Dave's Evo X Build/The Life of Dave blog
That is very cool! I wish I could have something like that in my pos

Re: Dave's Evo X Build/The Life of Dave blog
You can. Even Hondata has that stuff, but nobody ever uses it, at least around here. You normally want to change boost and igntion timing though also, if the ethanol mix is changing a large amount.

I wouldn't think fueling needs to move as you change it globally with the scaling. Regardless I can't wait to try. |
Re: Dave's Evo X Build/The Life of Dave blog
With the Evo X and that many maps though, you can just switch entire tunes.

Re: Dave's Evo X Build/The Life of Dave blog
t4 kit sold and injectors and fuel pump sold.
Taking insurance off this thing and am going ot start pulling it off when its not super damn hot/humid, probably this weekend. If anyone wants to come help feel free :) I am hoping by September I will have enough to get the car back together. If I have to I might put stock shit back on for a bit, I still have the downpipe and UICP so I could throw that on for cheap if I didn't want to spend a ton. We shall see, goal is to have it for the mitsu cruise but I am not going to rush it. I will miss big time power but honestly I think the evo platform is more suited to 500whp or so and the car will be overall more fun and last longer (i hope haha). |
Re: Dave's Evo X Build/The Life of Dave blog
I'd suggest keeping at least comprehensive insurance on the car in case it's stolen, your garage collapses, etc. Or verify that your homeowner's policy completely covers it no matter what occurs.

Re: Dave's Evo X Build/The Life of Dave blog
I always leave "storage" insurance on it, that is what I do in winter so that is what I will do now but its A LOT cheaper. No reason to insure a vehicle that sits.

Re: Dave's Evo X Build/The Life of Dave blog
So......... What happen to make you start selling stuff?

Nothing in particular, the t4 build went over budget and my plans to refinance my house fell through which was what I was planning to use to pay for the overage. So I had debt that I don't want and needed some extra scratch and seeing as how I rarely drive the car I figured it was the ideal thing to downgrade. Originally I was going to sell the car completely but seeing the time/energy/dollars i have invested I came up with this compromise as I am sure I would just end up buying another fun car eventually anyway so why get rid of it now. We shall see, maybe I end up with a big boy setup again but I think I will be happy with the new setup i am planning. |
Re: Dave's Evo X Build/The Life of Dave blog
Turbo off this weekend, so now car will wait until I get around to putting it back together.
Might not be this year honestly, might wait for spring for bonus and tax return time. http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b2...ps5cd68988.jpg http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b2...ps009e2ff9.jpg |
Re: Dave's Evo X Build/The Life of Dave blog
Sounds like a solid plan you described as cars should always be on the back burner when it comes to financial shit.
Big boy setups are over rated anyways. Just get something that's still "quick" and fun. My setups pretty simple and should net 10s if all goes well on the launch. Keep up the good work and let things fall in to place. At least that's how I look at it. |
Re: Dave's Evo X Build/The Life of Dave blog
Till bonus time and tax time come and you buy another 6262 hahahaha!

I kind of made plenty of money on selling stuff... Acquiring firearms is ftw, sorry if you don't agree. All it means is the evo sits longer, not a huge deal to me. |
