Re: the evo 3 swap parts are coming
got new spacers from craig used to smaller ones to space it out a little over 1/2in. I have now got good clearness on the brembo to rim. I will put it on the car to night to check it all out.

|
Re: the evo 3 swap parts are coming

|
Re: the evo 3 swap parts are coming
well I got it put on the car tonight to make sure it will all work. I have 2in of back spacing from the rim to the cusco coils. The rim sits with in the fender still with the little over a 1/2in spacer plates. I used a jack to compress the suspention to make sure also and was all good to go. So it is a full green light for the fronts no I just have to order the good 1/2in spacers for it. I am also pretty sure this is the first early evo with evo 8/9 brembos on it and 18*8 rims. Did it at craigs house sense the girls were doing there wedding invatations
Now to the pics http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o...o/DSC03790.jpg http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o...o/DSC03789.jpg http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o...o/DSC03787.jpg http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o...o/DSC03786.jpg http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o...o/DSC03788.jpg |
Re: the evo 3 swap parts are coming
thanks to me of course.
|
Re: the evo 3 swap parts are coming
yes craig helped out a lot
|
Re: the evo 3 swap parts are coming
Freaking sweet! Are you going to paint the calipers b4 they go on for good or not yet?
Looks awesome man. |
Re: the evo 3 swap parts are coming
they will get painted before it all goes on. they will be matched to all the cusco parts I have
|
Re: the evo 3 swap parts are coming
Looks like you will need extended wheel studs to have the spacers fit.
|
Re: the evo 3 swap parts are coming
as it is right now it was all for mock up sense I can get the spacers from craig and bring them back when I am done. I am going to get H&R 15mm spacers with the evo center ring and they come with the extended studs.
|
Re: the evo 3 swap parts are coming
Awesome! My front brakes are making a little noise... ;) ;) haha
|
Re: the evo 3 swap parts are coming
lol. will have to see if your rims will fit also. we tryed craigs last night and it would need more spacer for his
|
Re: the evo 3 swap parts are coming
My brembo's fit fine with H&R 15mm spacers and extended studs although my brembo's are not the Evo VIII's. My wheels were 18x7+42 offset
|
Re: the evo 3 swap parts are coming
but the evo 1-3 and 1g knuckles are not even close to 2g knuckles. I will be putting the evo 8 brembos on my spyder also. All evo brembos 5-9 are the same caliper.

Re: the evo 3 swap parts are coming
some new up dates on the car. Last week I went to the junk yard for parts for the wifes 1g that I did not have. I ended up picking up a mazda washer bottle with the motor in it so I can hook up my fmic sprayers. I just have to order a alky/meth injection boost pressuare switch for it.
http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o...o/DSC03793.jpg Also got tired of the red gas door on the car sense it was the only thing that was red so I shot some primer on it and it looks a lot better now. http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o...o/DSC03794.jpg Other parts that will be here thus this week the smim was sent 3 day air from japan for ems pricing the 1/2 front wheel spacers from H&R with the extend wheel studs 3 auto meter roll cage mount cups for the greddy gauges. Also picking up a set of tire from a buddy for 150.00 they are 215/35/18 Falken 452's with a few hundred miles on them |
Re: the evo 3 swap parts are coming
Then all you have to do is press in the 1g rear hubs, right? Oh, and good luck if you hit a pothole ;)
|
Re: the evo 3 swap parts are coming
I have to press in the evo 8 rear hubs make the bracket for the brembo for the back.
Ya I know the tires are small but it is all I can do to get the 18*8's in there. I still dont know if they will fit the rear yet |
Re: the evo 3 swap parts are coming
the H&R wheel spacers showed up today for the fronts

Re: the evo 3 swap parts are coming
here is some more
pics of the other knuckle and the one that has been ground down to make the brembo brackets fit. Pic was before I did the final clean up on it and did the other knuckle. http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o...o/DSC03800.jpg http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o...o/DSC03801.jpg http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o...o/DSC03806.jpg http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o...o/DSC03807.jpg |

Re: the evo 3 swap parts are coming
Nice. I'm taking Friday off from work, so if you need a hand with anything, I could probably swing by during the day some time.
|
Re: the evo 3 swap parts are coming
So you're gonna hack off half the bolt head of the caliper brackets to make room for the calipers?
|
Re: the evo 3 swap parts are coming
that was for mock up the hardwear store did not have the right size alen head's in stock so I used the bolts for it
|
Re: the evo 3 swap parts are coming
How are wooden brackets going to hold up? What if you get termites and your brakes fall off? Will you be using Thompson deck sealant?
|
Re: the evo 3 swap parts are coming

Re: the evo 3 swap parts are coming
I have to thank my dad Ken for doing the coil pack bracket. he made it from a extra 90 dsm coil bracket and some angel iron I had at the house. it is now mounted on to of the A/C pump. I also drilled out the mount hole on a 91+ ignitor and put it were the oem intake bracket was. Dad also made an alum bracket to move the throttle cable so it would work and not bind up. We did a mini wire tuck also. I just have to get a longer hose for the PVC. We also had to redo the fmic piping with a 45 bend and cut the lower pipe shorter. On the smim we had to drill out the bolt holes a bit to get it to fit the bigger studs. But that was the only thing we had to do to it.
now to the pics http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o...ictures001.jpg http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o...ictures006.jpg http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o...ictures007.jpg http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o...ictures008.jpg |
