Thanks!

Had a great weekend, the weather was awesome, great times hanging out with everyone. I met all my goals of the weekend, get deep into the 10’s, go 140+, and win the class. I ended up running a best of 10.325@ 140 in the finals to win the RSU class.
I’m super impressed with the car, I never had do anything with the car all weekend. In comparison, when I run my talon it pushes about a ¼ to ½ a quart of oil in the catch can each pass. The Evo had nothing to drain.

As it turns out the Evo is not as well behaved off the line like my Talon is. I failed to get traction off the line when on the 2 step limiter. It would just immediately spin the front tires. I could have tried lots of different RPM points, but I ended up just free revving pretending I was leaving a stop light quickly.

I think with a ton of seat time I could get into the 9's, but it's not my goal. I'm 100% fulfilled with the low 10’s!

I could not get the embedded video to work, below is the link:

Does this have a cage? I don't remember seeing one.
It looked like a normal evo with rims and hoosiers, not loud or anything really noticable.

After your comments, you think you would do a drag evo over your talon?

It is a full weight street Evo, spare tire and jack in the trunk. No cage in it, hence the getting warned and only 2 full out passes in! BTW, the 1G Talon is the real car platform to drag!

lol, love it.

Funny your non-drag car was faster than 95% of the cars out there even the drag cars and turbo V8 cars!

Mark have you taken the "Helper" spring out? I just did and it made the clutch feel a little better on the street. Apparently you dont need them with a hydraulic bearing, diagram 4:

I'm going to give that a shot. So did it make it harder to push down? I need to look in my 1g too. thanks for sharing! You going to make it out again this year, to get that 9? Cedar Falls is a great track to do it, the porky/midway shoot out or whatever the f*** they call it would be a good opportunity. The track hooks.

No talon outings for the rest of the year. I don't have time as my MBA is kicking my ass, good thing I'll have my degree in December!

My clutch has had enough haha. Without that little spring in there it feels the same pushing in, but releasing feels a lot better. Maybe it's in my head but it made it a little easier to take off slowly from a stop.

The car has been still rocking along. It's been a reliable car, for the exception that I stripped teeth off of second gear about a year ago and I had to open up the aem ems to replace a low side driver for mivec control. Other than that not too bad for a 770whp car! The exaust is annoying loud, it's got 3.5" aluminum exhaust with vibrant mufflers. My little project was to quiet down the beast!

I decided to try to make a larger muffler, since there were no alternatives in aluminum.

I just finished it up and it did exactly what I wanted, it's got a deep tone with no more weird resonance, and it's very quiet. Should be a good summer!

I try to drive it as the main car in the summer. I still have my silver SE IX for all other driving. The qm clutch kind of sucks due to it wanting chatter on light take offs like in bumper to bumper traffic. The tune is refined so it will idle smooth in gear, it's nice for bumper to bumper drivability.

Re: Mark's Evo IX MR Winter Projects

It was time to switch up and improve my suspension. I was following schides recipe from his Evo. I bought a set of new bilsteins with some Swift spec-r's, I restacked the rear differential, installed a whiteline rear sway bar with whiteline bar links and larger brackets. The car looks way better lowered a little bit. What sparked all this was that my silver evo has a blown strut. It's going to get the bilsteins from my MR. I also bought a tatricx 2.0 cable to replace my 1.3 that died on me, I'm playing with ACD tunes now.

I also had really crappy looking brembo's, so I decided to repaint them. Evo M had a great write-up on refinishing. I never realized they sold 2K clear coat in a rattle can. The results were really good. I bought one of those paint code custom aerosol cans.

After I manually chipped off the failing clear coat:
