YAY! I stopped by to drop something off for scheides today, and I got there just as they were about to get the tranny bolted to the motor! Nice work guys! Good luck with getting the rest of it back together!

I have some amazing friends. I hope someday I can pay them back for this. Before I left work today, I got this pic from Trevor:

when I got home, the tranny was on. I was elated! I could have cried I was so happy, except for all the rest of the work left to do sobered me up quick. Aaron came by and helped me thank god, cause don't forget who's writing this--I suck at wrenching :). We spent a good hour wrestling with two motor mounts, then got the transfer case on and trevor came back to help us button up the axles and suspension, and a bunch of other little stuff. 11pm curfew imposed by Anna, so I'll probably button it up tomorrow.

Rosey, it was too dark to see your little project, I'll take pics of it tomorrow! I gotta be at work at 7am. :(

Fuck that! They were a PITA to reinstall but my ass and non-vibrating dash loves them :) I am a firm believer in a mildly upgraded front motor mount and stock side and rear mounts, plenty of performance there at most (normal-ish) power levels.

Thanks again for your help aaron! Sorry the mounts were such bitches. We worked them though!

Can't say I'd recommend it. My car feels fine at cruise but in the 4k rpm range the buzzing makes you feel like the car is coming apart.

^I still have your stock rear mount if you want :)

Re: beaterX project thread

I definitely wouldn't do anything more than just a front engine mount for a street car. I did all 4 on a DSM and regretted it. The Evo X for me is all about no-regrets modding, which is why I ordered a new catback a few days after installing this current one. On every modded car prior to this I've done something that makes the car not as fun to daily-drive and I want to make sure that doesn't happen again.

Re: beaterX project thread

way to go. would have helped out but I am trying to get the evo 1 swap done and had to do a engine swap on a honda.

engine mounts are all up to who dives the car. I cant stand to have stock mounts in my cars they all have to have all 4 polly mounts and the evo has them and will get an alum front rollstop so the turbo stops rocking into the radiator

Meh, the Boomba mounts are pretty. I just wouldn't do it a second time.

vibrations are fun in a weekend car, not a daily.

Re: beaterX project thread

Buttoned everything up a few hours ago! She leaked a bit out of the driver's side axle, but a quick tap with a hammer got it fully seated and seems to have stopped it. Took the car around the block a few times and a bunch of first gear/reverse starts and it seems 100% perfect. I'll drive it a bit more tomorrow, taking Anna to the casino to blow off some steam and start off the holiday weekend right. :)

ready for more real mods now!

I snapped a pic when I got home thursday, I couldn't believe my eyes!

Like I said a few posts up, got everything nearly done thursday night, and ended up taking friday afternoon off and buttoning everything up. Let me tell you BeaterX fought me every step of the way.

Anna helped us the last 15 minutes with a whip was jonsen' us with some harsh words to hurry the eff up! (You can see how happy she is)

I got home pretty late last night, but this morning I woke up, checked out that leak and she looks dry as a bone. Put about 20 miles on it this morning and it feels fantastic! I'm taking it easy but still in shock that just a few days ago I was planning on limping this thing for a few weeks until someone could do this for me :D

Pedal feel is a little heavier than stock, and its really grabby between shifts, and pretty damn smooth for a 6-puck leaving from a stop. The new redline Xcocktail (2xMTL 1xMT90) is smooth as buttah. Gonna get this thing broken in quick, cause beaterX is going to continue to be in for a beating :)
