Re: Dave's Evo X Build/The Life of Dave blog

Well, had to drive through some snow Saturday in the evo to make it to MAP, but I made it It was sideways a few times as the summer tires were like ice skates but it made it with flying colors, just got really dirty! And for some reason, as usual I couldn't drive the car without some Pontiac Gran prix trying to race me. So hard to just ignore dumb asses that keep speeding up and slowing down and shit when I can't get into the throttle at all with no tune on the car haha. I don't know what it is about pontiac drivers, but they always try to race me, even the grocery getters.

The car ran pretty good considering jon spent like 30 mins on dialing the injectors in, it cruised pretty good, transitional stuff was a bit icky, big lean to rich swings etc but I made it ok.

MAP plans to build a top mount it sounds like just because the bottom mount probably won't fit, so top mount time baby.

I am still planning to go with the 6266 JB one in an .84 trim unless I sell my gun soon, then I might go 6466 for funsy. MAP is planning to build 3-5 kits off the bat and will be doing a sort of group buy I think. I have zero details on pricing but if you are interested please PM me and I will set up the group buy! They do have an MR in shop too so they will make sure it fits the MR too is the plan.

But for now, T4 game on!

edit:

I am also planning on doing a surge tank soon and moving my wally 400 into the surge tank and having either a stock pump or dw65 feed the surge tank. THen I will throw a BAP on the 400 and I that that will be good for A LOT, like I am hoping 750-800whp.

I thought the price of the 6266 and 6466 was the same? I thought the price difference was JB to BB. Maybe not?

Car looks awesome and the top mount should be awesome to.

Re: Dave's Evo X Build/The Life of Dave blog

They are the same, but I am doing a JB not BB for now. The 6466 only comes in BB.

I am looking forward to the new setup, should be fun and I think its about time I got into a "Proper" kit for my power level.

That makes sense. Good work either way and I'm sure it will be sweet when your finished.

Go 6466. Go big or go home. This car better make it out one summer night for some highway rolls.

I just might need it actually! I sold mine long ago or I can't find it.

I will be out for highway rolls for sure! No 6466, I am not ready for it fuel wise, it would be a waste. I think the 6266 is more than enough, people have made 800whp with them before.

.84 hotside on a T4 seems kinda small?

I was doing that on purpose I guess. Others have told me that a t4 divided flange is roughly equivalent to a t3 single scroll for flowage. And an .84 t3 single scroll is good for 700's.

I just want something that spools in the same neighborhood as what I have now was kind of the idea.

I can always swap hotsides for relatively cheap. Which was my back up plan.

Might want to double-check what other guys are running that you've been following to be sure. Go with what's proven!

ps--you're dumb for doing this! :)

They all are moving to the 6466 lol. I want to run something smaller/responsive for starters then I will move up after.

I dunno though, maybe I will go with the 1.0AR, I have been getting several people saying to do that now...

Yes, I know very well, I am dumb. You can take it for a spin when its done though if you want ;)

This is going to be a wicked setup!

Since you're going twin scroll I would start with the 1.0a/r. I kept wanting to go with a smaller a/r on my 6766 but people like Leasure and places like Boostin performance kept saying go with the bigger a/r. I figure they know more than I do so I just listened to them lol.

It was bound to happen at some point, I held off longer than I originally planned, mainly due to funds being invested in motor builds lol. I dunno, I just enjoy screwing with stuff that is already working I guess! YOLO!

Welp, as long as you don't change your license plate to say SWAG, I'm down with whatever blasted A/R you get.

There is a big difference between the A/R rating of a divided and undivided turbine housing and then anytime you switch housing families, like from T3 to T4 the ratings are much different.
