But honestly, aside from possibly needing some help pushing my car onto a trailer, I don't think I will need anything any time soon. But I will post up if I do:) |

In my case I saved up and spent the money at once so that I can enjoy it for years...rather than spend years dinking around with the car instead of driving it. I'd rather show up at scheides' place and help with other people's cars than mess with my own. |
Re: Dave's Evo X Build
I'd rather put an ass ton of miles on my car over the years making events all over the country and keep slowly changing things as I see fit.
Thanks for clearing that up dave. |

Ok then, now that we have established that people enjoy modding differently...lol.

Re: Dave's Evo X Build
Just noticed some people finally broke the tie on the poll, now building the X is winning, lol.
Still not convinced its the smart/logical thing to do but damn it i am sticking with it. |

Re: Dave's Evo X Build
I cleaned up the engine bay a bit with some brake cleaner today, i think i found a piston ring under there...i for sure found a couple big block chunks. I can't get the undertray off yet though, can't find my damn socket with 10mm...grrrr.
|
Re: Dave's Evo X Build
Go out and buy about 10-20 10mm sockets. Trust me, even with that many you'll still find yourself looking everywhere for one..

I also found one of Shane's on my undertray that he dropped down there when i was on the dyno. Got like 4 of them now. I actually was looking for my actual ratchet and the 10mm socket was on it. |
Re: Dave's Evo X Build
Well finally got my ass in gear tonight and got all oiled up, from the car obviously ;) And pulled all the undertray panels off and picked up pieces.
I couldn't see a hole in the block and the oil pan looks alright from the underside anyway. There was a sensor going into the motor that had broken off, hopefully it isn't the knock sensor :( It didn't have the connector on it and it's right under the intake manifold going into the motor. Here you go, i can get better pictures of this stuff, these are just prelims. http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b2...e/PIC_0030.jpg Wrist pin http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b2...e/PIC_0031.jpg http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b2...e/PIC_0032.jpg Piston chunks http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b2...e/PIC_0033.jpg No idea what this is, rod bolt side of rod? http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b2...e/PIC_0034.jpg Piston ring i assume http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b2...e/PIC_0035.jpg |
Re: Dave's Evo X Build
Wow, that's some carnage!
|
Re: Dave's Evo X Build
This is just stuff from the undertray too, lol. I want to see inside the motor.

Re: Dave's Evo X Build
Well, just a quick update for those that didn't see the car on the flatbed at the dyno day when we pulled it in.
It's now at DB and that will be it's resting place for the time being. I spoke with Danny a bit and it sounded like he was thinking 2 weeks before the motor got pulled and then we could diagnose it and order parts. The waiting begins... |
Re: Dave's Evo X Build
Good luck, if u need a ride sometime let me know since we are locals.
|
Re: Dave's Evo X Build
^Will do, thanks man :)
Might need something in the future when I need to pick up the car. I am buying a 2nd car this week though, probably this 95 accord I am looking at. |
Re: Dave's Evo X Build
^How much you looking to spend i know some people selling some cheap shit.
|
Re: Dave's Evo X Build
2-3 grand.
Basically the biggest thing is something decent in snow and more or less as reliable as a car can get for that price. Honda's fit pretty well into that category. |
Re: Dave's Evo X Build
yeah, if not i know a 97 blazer with new tires and tune up for 2700 has 140k miles i think or 98 sunfire gt for 1300, new clutch, tires, brakes 4cyl 5 spd.
PM me so we don't wreck your thread. |
New Whip
Check it out, woo woo!
http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b2...6/fee64152.jpg Rocking this for the foreseeable future. The awesome thing...there is a bunch of maintenance things that need to be done and i need new front rotors/pads, pretty much all fluids tons of gaskets, new axels etc etc. My mechanic buddy got me a quote and the list was long and i was like, damn it this is going to suck, probably like 1000 worth of parts...it was like 150 bucks, shit for this car is so damn cheap, lol. And my buddy is going to help me fix it all in my garage next weekend, so it should run like a champ after that :) |
Re: Dave's Evo X Build

Re: Dave's Evo X Build
Update:
haven't had much to report yet since DB has been swamped, but..Danny called me late last night (those guys are working crazy hours) and said he was in the process of moving my car over to the "work on it" side since they now have a free lift. Danny said he had a hoist going by it and in the morning they would start in on it. So motor should be out in the next few days and we can get this thing moving! |
Re: Dave's Evo X Build
They called me late last night as well to let me know my car was done and coming off the lift, probably the same one lol.
Hope everything goes smooth with the new motor. |
