Re: 91 Galant VR4

I doubt it will be dyno ready for the spring dyno day, 59 days away. I would like to have it up and running under its own power by then, but dyno ready will be pushing it. Then its track ready before I worry about putting the power down on a dyno day. Besides the last time I tried this dance I was smoked by some white evo anyways.

Here is what it looks like for the basic spark plug changes, timing check, water to air intercooler work or filling with ice, etc.

Anything more and the 4 pins are removed the front end come off to make working on stuff a lot easier. I will be making slide in bolt trays for the front and fire wall mounts.

Let me get in there and just pull the tranny real quick like.

Swifty, this pic is for you.

There should be more to come in the next few days. I have compiled a list of parts needed to make this the record breaking car that it should be. Thanks for looking.

Re: 91 Galant VR4

haha, You might need to be able to pull the tranny a few times making this kind of power. Looking good man, is this just the mock-up motor yet?

Fucking badass, lets get this thing rolling!!

A lot of records are getting set this year so do it up!

I remember this thing a few years back at the shop I can't believe how far it has come, also how far it has come since the pics I saw of it when you first had it.

Are you doing straight cut gears with this car?

Re: 91 Galant VR4

It would need a dog box at its full potential for sure. I will start out with a shep stage 4 or equal and see how far it will go. This is just a mock up motor the real deal will be home soon and I will just get it up and running with a regular tranny and the clutch I had before. Then save up cash needed for the tranny and clutch situation to get worked out.

Thanks for the pic, looks like you will clear everything just fine under there. I am curious as to it's conditions soon. You thinking about doing the sequential shifter setup at all? There was one on talk a while ago that was for sale for like 1200. Just all the brackets, shifter, etc. looked pretty slick..

Re: 91 Galant VR4

Standard hand and foot shifting for me. If I did anything else it would be the auto trans.

The 4 pins for the trunk lid and installed and the heights set. The 2 in the back fit nice under the wing and its easy to slide on and off for filling up, battery or fuel pump service or filling the nitrous bottle.

Now with the trunk lid off the break lights and license plate area are mounted to the chassis and just the trunk lid and wing come off. I have a little more lining up and finish work back here.

Here is the trunk lid down to the basics. I also added 2 braces on the rear deck lid. Also the front hood pin locations are fabricated, now I just need a hood to install.

Here are the tires I want to run on all 4 corners. Now I just need to find a wheel to fit a 4 x 114.3 bolt patter and be 15" x 8" wide. Enkei RPF1 or similar.

Nawwzz!!!! lol

Only 8" tires? I guess I figured you would need wider for the kind of power you will put down. But hey I'm sure you know waaay more than me haha

Re: 91 Galant VR4

The rim is 8", the tire tread is 10.5".

I converted my GVR4 to standard from a donor DSM in the junk yard....its well worth it because the wheel options are much better....also I own only one set of 4 lug wheels.

Pushit2.0 03-21-2010 11:08 PM

Re: 91 Galant VR4

I have thought of doing the 5 lug conversion, if the rims become an issue I will switch over.
