Whatever punk, you mentioned UPS coming with your new turbo in the shoutbox multiple times, then were talking about it, blah blah blah....don't try so hard to pretend to be a wallflower when you know you're an attention-whore :P

Did you ever figure out the reving issue?

Thats a pretty cool turbo tho, hope you put it to good use!

The 67 didn't want to spool on your car...like it does on other DSMs. Two words: hello lag.

Hello 1000RPM of usable powerband.

Yea I dunno, big turbos are cool. But I would have stuck the money into fixing the ignition issues, and maybe a paint job. :D

I like having power for more than 2k rpm too. Just doesnt seem fun.

Even then I bet he has less than 3000 RPM of usable power, and as of right now he can't even get the car to rev past 8000.

Low end power is for pussies.

For drag racing he might need 2k of power.

If you read back through this thread, this car has been plagued with a solid rev limit of like 7949rpm or something exact and he hasn't really been able to figure it out. I say put a hta68 on it and you have the perfect street car/drag brawler.

We think the rev limiter issue has been fixed, as everything else has been looked over, ohmd, tested, etc. The valvesprings couldn't keep up with my cams, especially since they where not properly shimmed, but rather thrown into the head, like most of us would do.

Lag. I don't really care. I like the fact that it's laggy, in all honesty. Regular driving, the car is easy, like a honda, and when I want power, just downshift. You all act like it's soooo hard to find the powerband and drive in it.

Small ass turbos don't make the power I wish for. Plain and Simple. Who knows when I'll stop, but right now I am still working things out.

For a second there, I thought I was reading another swifty bashing thread, not a BUILD/PROJECT thread...;)

You seem to constantly be working things out. When was the last time you stuck with a setup long enough to even attempt to achieve the maximum potential of that setup? Not hating, just calling it as I see it. You're kind of like a dog chasing a car, but you never catch the car because you start chasing another car that just passed you going the opposite direction.

Please don't try to involve, group the rest of us in your failures. Most of us are not wanna be cool asshats. :KANE:

Re: Swifty's never-ending project thread!

huh? I said not many people measure, check, and shim their valvesprings? Did you?

Shane@DBPerformance 02-05-2010 01:35 PM

Re: Swifty's never-ending project thread!

We do on all the valvesprings and valves we do on heads, unless someone really wants them thrown in ghetto/internetz style without removing the head.

Swifty1638 02-05-2010 01:37 PM

Re: Swifty's never-ending project thread!

Well then, I'm just a fuckup, and caused all my failures. I certainly HOPE this is the case! I know some springs/retainers you can throw in and not shim, other softer, or less strong ones you don't need to. The new ones I'm getting you don't need to.

Shane@DBPerformance 02-05-2010 01:49 PM

Re: Swifty's never-ending project thread!

If you aren't throwing a mild spring into a 100% stock head, then you should probably have the installed height, seat pressure, coil bind, retainer to valve guide seal clearance, etc checked. Having different valves or a valve job can throw things off.

Re: Swifty's never-ending project thread!

Well, what about what I AM doing? 1mm oversized, otherwise stock porting, soda blasted so it's fresh and clean, and rau's beehive ferrera valvesprings, retainers, etc? He said he never shims his and doesn't have issues hitting 11,500rpms..I would hope i'd be ok to hit 9200?

How often does he tear down the motor? When you cross the line from daily driver (perhaps a 10 sec car) into these beastly ranges then I'm sure a lot of things are done differently.
