Shift box is in and works awesome!

Next thing I have to do is a knock sensor.

Needs tuning, period. It's up to him when it happens, though.

Nick, download and unzip this.

The attached files should do what you're looking for.

Just save them into the following directory:

Windows XP:
C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\ecmlink\resources\records

Windows Vista/Windows 7:
C:\Users\<username>\ecmlink\resources\records

The directory should already exist, so if it doesn't, you may be looking in the wrong place.

Once you have one of the files installed, bring up or restart the ECMLink application. When you connect to your ECU, you'll have a new direct access entry call KnockDisable or something along those lines.

Instructions for usage are at the bottom of the KnockDisable tab. You can always revert back to stock by clicking on the "stock" button in direct access while viewing that tab and then hitting Save to ECU.

Re: 2G auto S/A daily

So trying to stall my car and seeing if I can build boost. It kinda works but can only build 6 before pushing threw the brakes.

Here's what happening.

When I hold the brakes down and give it gas the brake pedal pushes up like there's no vacuum.

I have a 1g intake and tom said there is a check valve on 1G brake boosters. Well mines a 2G and I don't see that on mine.

Wondering if anyone has had this issue and what to do to fix it.

I've read toucan pump the brakes while the car is off to relief vacuum pressure in the line.

Thanks

Re: 2G auto S/A daily

Maybe put in a check valve?

turbotalon1g 07-14-2013 05:20 PM

Re: 2G auto S/A daily

I'd put in a check valve if it doesn't have one.

Re: 2G auto S/A daily

Yeah I will I'm gonna look at the 2g mani when I get home see if there's one on there.

Re: 2G auto S/A daily

There should be a factory check valve on the booster (2g)... Right were the vacuum line attaches to the booster. Even with the check valve I'm sure you will blow through the brakes.

I'd just buy a electric vacuum pump from Summit and wire it to the brake switch. Thats what we are doing with Vassils car. Get rid of the line on the manifold and every time you hit the brake pedal, the vacuum pump comes on and creates awesome vacuum for the booster.

Fixed. Just had to put a stock line in.

Ok jake ill look into that. I know people use vw pumps?

I have the VW pump it works Awesome. Have you done any more tuning?

Gonna try to get out tomorrow.

What V-dub pump did you use?

Audi also has vacuum pumps, they use them to lock the doors.

Re: 2G auto S/A daily

Dropped off a turbo to Aaron and went out to test the stall.

Kinda showed me a few tricks and they worked pretty well. Got the car to stall up pretty good and didn't move an inch. Then as I let go I quickly ran out of first with no shiftbox in hand so I got out.

Ended up doing so knock sensor logging to and only are seeing .04 degrees of knock so all is well there. Car is running around 11afr and timing is safe so hoping Shane can squeeze every last hp out of this setup.

Also looking at the logs we found that the turbo is moving 55lbs/min of air at 25psi. So at 30+ I'm hoping it will run me into the tens.

A couple more street outings and a tune date set for the 24th and I should be ready to make my first pass in the auto. Now I just need to check some schedules.

Car moves good thanks for dropping that fiddy off for me. Maybe sat. we can get some more time into getting the car ready for dyno.

Re: 2G auto S/A daily

55lbs @ 25psi is a damn good amount of air. That car definitely has some 10's in it!

Re: 2G auto S/A daily

How are you reading airflow? If you aren't running a stock unhacked 2G MAS then the lbs/min readings are not going to be accurate. The GM MAF setups on DSMs are far from accurate.

CornFed2.4 07-17-2013 10:24 AM

Re: 2G auto S/A daily

I'm running a 4 bar omni map sensor no gm maf/ stock maf in my setup.

This # was just logged in link.

How accurately can one log airflow using pressure?

Sorry I'm a newb when it comes to this stuff.

Re: 2G auto S/A daily

Same as a virtual dyno?

Shane@DBPerformance 07-18-2013 12:11 PM

Re: 2G auto S/A daily

Without an airflow sensor, you can't read airflow.

Tomorrow is my tune at noon. Gonna change plugs and oil tonight and hopefully that's it and I'm ready to go.

Weather is looking nice and cool!

What did you do about your waste gate?

CornFed2.4 07-24-2013 12:53 PM

Re: 2G auto S/A daily

I had to just fix it. What happened was the mount came loose and moved the rod forward. So when we tapped it with the hammer it couldn't move cause the arm was fully depressed. As soon as I took the cotter pin and wastegate arm off the flapper closed completely. I've put 500+ miles and no hang ups.

I contacted a few shops and none could have an external setup done in time and I couldn't purchase one and have it in time either.

Too bad the tune is at noon, otherwise it'd be fun to swing up there and watch!

Good luck!

X2!!

Boost leak test too!

Re: 2G auto S/A daily

Just went through DB's checklist.

No oil leaks, fans in operating condition, coolant system bled.

Just need to zip tie a few lines to the boost controller, and zip tie the dipstick after oil change.

Should I gap my plugs to .24? I'm running bpr7es goal is to get over 30 psi.

Re: 2G auto S/A daily

Nice that it was an easy fix. I gapped mine at .24. It wouldn't be a bad idea to have an extra set of plugs. Good luck tomorrow

Yeah I have a few new sets sitting here and I always keep a spare set in the glove box.

True DSMer! I always had a spare set of plugs in the glove box too lol

I had to go down to .018 on mine before it stopped blowing out with this setup. I was on stock coils, however, BPR8ES plugs.
