Re: GheyrodX - bigger, fatter, gheyer!
Sweet powah Kracka, very impressive.
I kinda agree with lomker though, are you sure its not injectors? ETS said they ran the stock fuel pump out at 420whp on their 35 kit. |

Re: GheyrodX - bigger, fatter, gheyer!
That's kinda weird, since Scheides put down ~400 at DB with a stock fuel pump. This dyno reads closer to MAP's dyno as far as local dyno's so it seems. I guess I would think injectors before pump as well, but I guess we'll see. :)
|
Re: GheyrodX - bigger, fatter, gheyer!
Scheides also has DW800cc fuel injectors so it's not apples to apples. I think adding injectors or a pump would accomplish the same thing, but the guys at Cobb said the actual problem on my car is the pump since IDC's are at 93%.

You're totally right about the injector/pump thing. As I have learned from Shane, you can push a fuel pump further with bigger injectors, which is basically what I did on my car. ~380whp is the limit w/ 800's and it looks like its around 320whp w/ stock 600cc injectors. It's all about having more resolution with which to store up fuel and spit it out at the particular cylinder. Bigger injectors can dump larger amounts of fuel in shorter bursts, allowing the fuel pump to be pushed further. At this point (for both of us) an upgraded fuel pump and keeping the existing injectors is the perfect plan--won't have to mess with injector scaling/latancies and you'll just have plenty of fueling headroom on top. Plus, if you upgrade turbo or switch to e85 later, you're set with just an injector upgrade. :) Go gheyrodX go! |
Re: GheyrodX - bigger, fatter, gheyer!
Keep in mind my IX made 326 @ DB then put down 360 @ Cobb with a very similar tune (converted to SD, but AFR, timing, and boost was kept steady). Everyone must also keep in mind that the VIII and IX pumps also needed replacing before the stock fuel injectors did. Along with the X's larger stock fuel injectors it also got a more capable pump so the stock fuel system is able to support more, but still not enough.
This trying to compare dynos is retarded though, it just can't accurately be done. DB's dyno reads what DB's dyno does and Cobb's dyno reads what Cobb's dyno does. Moral of the story, my X is making damn impressive power for a stock turbo/pump gas X on Cobb's dyno and the stock fuel system isn't able to supply what my car is now capable of. Getting back to the original intent of this testing...the ported manifolds and throttle body made damn impressive gains! |
Re: GheyrodX - bigger, fatter, gheyer!
Thanks to Scheides being awesome and mailing me his Cobb fuel pump install kit (they're still back-ordered) I'm able to get my tune finished today :D
|
Re: GheyrodX - bigger, fatter, gheyer!
So how much does it cost you to get tuned every time, or do they hook it up? I feel like you are getting new t00ns every day :)
|
Re: GheyrodX - bigger, fatter, gheyer!
They hook me up pretty good.
|
Re: GheyrodX - bigger, fatter, gheyer!
It's to pay him back for promoting the AP on EvoM :)
Oh and apparently sending mailers out...I'll get you back somehow :) |
Re: GheyrodX - bigger, fatter, gheyer!
LOL figured you'd want some bathroom reading material!
|
Re: GheyrodX - bigger, fatter, gheyer!
I was so damn confused...like, how did they find me!?
Oh, that went right in the garbage haha. |
Re: GheyrodX - bigger, fatter, gheyer!
Fuel pump did the trick! IDC's around 89% with nice steady AFR's

Still on the dyno, will post #'s as soon as it's done.

Re: GheyrodX - bigger, fatter, gheyer!
I wasn't even on the dyno that long, hurry up. :D
|
Re: GheyrodX - bigger, fatter, gheyer!
Numbers pretty much remained unchanged with the fuel pump...the setup was pretty maxed at that point I guess! I am fine with the fuel pump being just a little extra safety margin though since it was right on the edge and inconsistent as the fuel temps increased before.

Time for a BBX?

Lots of ideas in my head. Turbo, injectors, Cobb BOV, WL RCK, etc. What to do, what to do...
|
Re: GheyrodX - bigger, fatter, gheyer!
Turbo...one that isn't out yet...injectors, FIC 1100's (unless you plan on E85 then still maybe 1100's), cobb bov or synchronic new diverter, WL RCK ftw from what I hear....so yea, I like where your head is at :)
|
Re: GheyrodX - bigger, fatter, gheyer!
Where are these ideas coming from? You didn't mention anything yesterday...
|
Re: GheyrodX - bigger, fatter, gheyer!
I was thinking about picking up Scheides' DW800's.

Honestly, aside from the turbos that are released right now, for a great stock motor setup I like the BBX lite the best honestly...i'd need to see a bbx lite vs the green though.

I'm finally done being lazy so I'll post my dyno results from before and after:
+PPI extreme ported exhaust manifold +Mil.Spec ported intake manifold +Mil.Spec ported throttle body http://accessecu.com/dyno/graph.php?...rgb2=204000000 Slightly less boost for the "after" too :) |
Re: GheyrodX - bigger, fatter, gheyer!
Less boost because you have less restriction :)
4 months later, good work haha. Looks good though, solid gains. |

Re: GheyrodX - bigger, fatter, gheyer!
New Depo 3" LICP, it should go well with my MAP FMIC w/3" outlet and ported throttle body. Stock fitment and retains two of the three factory mounts.
http://www.dsmstyle.com/photopost/data/641/IMAG0227.jpg I originally tried getting a 2.75" LICP from two different shops and that turned into a huge failure, I'm glad another shop was actually able to come through for me. |
Re: GheyrodX - bigger, fatter, gheyer!
Fancy! Slap that bish on and beat some ass!
|
Re: GheyrodX - bigger, fatter, gheyer!
Stopped by Cobb today to get some T-bolts for above LICP and while I was there ordered some other fun stuff...
