Hot giggity!!! Can't wait to see your impressions of this.
Get a f'ing big cam in this thing already! :) |

The ported IM should put me somewhere around 450whp (DynoJet) if my estimation is correct. |
Re: Meet GheyRay: Lower, Wider, Lighter!
That's pretty stout for mods that don't affect driveability.

Re: Meet GheyRay: Lower, Wider, Lighter!
What I wouldn't do for a rigid aluminum oil pan with a built in sealing ring ala LS versus the flimsy tin pan and RTV solution for DSM's. I spend all last night chasing down small oil leaks, meanwhile my 100K+ mile Tahoe has yet to ever shred a drop of any fluid. LS for the win!
|
Re: Meet GheyRay: Lower, Wider, Lighter!
LT FTW :)
I just hope they prove to be as durable as the LS! |
Re: Meet GheyRay: Lower, Wider, Lighter!
So you didn't order that supercharger yet?

Yea plenty of power being NA, I dont blame you!
|
Re: Meet GheyRay: Lower, Wider, Lighter!
I'm sure it'll eventually get a Procharger kit though :p
|
Re: Meet GheyRay: Lower, Wider, Lighter!
Do they make a cam that is mild enough that won't screw up drivability? Something similar in nature to like a DSM 264. Little bump in power, but no real noticeable drivability downfall?
|
Re: Meet GheyRay: Lower, Wider, Lighter!
Probably, but I'm not really interested in tearing into the engine since that opens a whole new can of worms for potential oil leaks, tuning issues, etc.
*edit* Here is pretty much what you were referring to: https://texas-speed.com/p-4547-texas...lications.aspx By doing a cam, I would lose the Active Fuel Management (cylinder deactivation) functionality. Not a big deal to some, but I like it for roadtrips. |

WeaponX Stage 1 LT1 ported intake manifold pics:

Next minor mod that I plan to order and stockpile for a boring weekend: C7 Z06 Z07 swaybar bushings. It turns out that all C7's with magnetic ride control (Z51 w/MRC option, Z06, & Z06 w/Z07 package) all share identical swaybars, with the Z07 getting stiffer bushings than the rest. The set of 4 should be right around $20-25 I think so I plan to get them ordered sooner or later since it should tigthen up the suspension by a little bit with minimal effect on ride quality. They're still made of rubber so there shouldn't be any additional noise. |
Re: Meet GheyRay: Lower, Wider, Lighter!
I got the WeaponX intake manifold installed this weekend, along with some DEI heat shroud (turned inside-out) around the radiator hoses to help shield the intake pipe from that radiant heat! I was out doing some logging in the 106F temps yesterday afternoon and the car still pulls like a train even with the A/C blasting! My tuner got the tunes updated so I'll get those flashed on tonight.

Re: Meet GheyRay: Lower, Wider, Lighter!
Did you log any change in temps?
coolant or intake? |

Re: Meet GheyRay: Lower, Wider, Lighter!
New drivetrain fluids inbound! I figured at 20k miles/2 years it's getting about due.
Transmission: Redline D4 ATF (gallon) Differential: ACDelco LS 75W-90 (3 quarts) I was considering going with Mobil 1 LS 75W-90 for the diff, but its a mixed bag of info whether or not it has the correct amount of LSD additive in it; I figured going with OEM would be the safe play there. For the transmission, Tremec recommends a Dexron III ATF fluid, but the dealer parts counter tried to sell me something called ACDelco Manual Transmission Fluid. I decided to just skip the confusion and order tried & trued Redline since I've been using their transmission fluids for nearly 15 years. |

Mmmmm...Z06 grille...
I picked one up off a guy that only had it for 2 months. Looks better + 17% increase in cooling airflow to the radiator and front brakes. http://i530.photobucket.com/albums/d...gejpg1-766.jpg Will look like this on my car: http://www.corvetteforum.com/forums/...2880386494.jpg |

Re: Meet GheyRay: Lower, Wider, Lighter!
Ok, the shark teeth would be kind of cool if you got them airbrushed haha
|
Re: Meet GheyRay: Lower, Wider, Lighter!
The shark teeth is gimmicky, but its kind of entertaining. I prefer the black grill though!
|
Re: Meet GheyRay: Lower, Wider, Lighter!
...and of course the seller flaked! At least he refunded my Paypal payment, so not entirely like a DSMer
I'll probably just buy a new one, maybe one of the GM parts vendors will have a good Black Friday sale. |
Re: Meet GheyRay: Lower, Wider, Lighter!
I think EVO owners are the new DSM'rs. I just got a Paypal dispute asking for a partial refund on Evo cams I sold. He's claiming they're 272's, I clearly looked up the numbers and they are 274/278's, exactly as I described. Theft by swindle will not be tolerated. :D

Re: Meet GheyRay: Lower, Wider, Lighter!
I was referring to the "new generation" of Evo owners now that there are plenty of cheap ones in the used market. You're fine, you're an OG :p

They're bad... Everyone wants absolute bottom barrel pricing, but nit-pick every tiny flaw, and the louder the exhaust and brighter colored the wheels and vinyl wrap are the better.
