Man that sucks. I think you need a beater NA honda to get you through these types of times. Modded/project cars are ftl for DDs.

Shitty man, how the hell did you catch my luck??? It must have rubbed off on you on the cruise or something...

I'm starting to think that complications are normal when it comes to modding. My car seems to know the balance of my checking account... |

Re: Project GC8 AKA USDM STi Killer
Sorry to hear dude, that really sucks :(
But this is exactly why I will never own a modded vehicle without also having a normal, reliable DD vehicle on the side as well. As much as it sucks, I'd recommend keeping one toy/project, and get a 2nd vehicle as a reliable DD. |
Re: Project GC8 AKA USDM STi Killer
Wow, this car is really out to kick your ass...
What's it going to take to do the HG, I'm assuming the engine would have to be lifted, right? |
Re: Project GC8 AKA USDM STi Killer
Well I have good news and better news. Firstly I would like to apologize for last night's emo session. Basically I was driving and saw it overheat, tried to stay positive and say "oh it's out of coolant." I did put new coolant in it and drove it and it seemed fine, then it started overheating again. I still tried to be positive and look in the engine bay and I could hear what sounded like a hissing noise coming from the DS head area. Looked underneath the car and saw coolant spraying everywhere from where it looked like the head. So naturally I assumed it was the head with the limited recourses I had at the time.
My car problems have just been one after another so I think I hit my limit last night and I apologize. The good news is it wasn't the head gasget, it was the heater core feed hose. Which happens to be RIGHT NEXT to the head gasget area. It was spewing coolant onto the head and therefor looked like a blown gasget from the angles I was looking. I fixed that and it's fine. The BETTER news is I found my boost leak I believe and the car is retarded fast now as it holds boost to redline now, instead of tapering to 10PSI. It makes so much torque on the dry pavement I can't keep traction through 1st, 2nd and part of 3rd. I do think I'll need a retune though with this amount of boost, I'll be logging it this week. |

Re: Project GC8 AKA USDM STi Killer
I'm not gentle with anything. Actually, I was only flooring it to see what the coolant temps would do while i was logging the temp and the car broke the wheels loose.
I've been pretty easy on it lately, which was also why I was so upset when I thought the HG was blown, it didn't make sense to me. |
Re: Project GC8 AKA USDM STi Killer
Shawn, just don't get too down about this. It's fixable and it's certainly not the end of the world!
Also, I saw a sign from above just now showing me that everything is indeed going to bs ok! http://i.imgur.com/NTQwG.jpg |

OMG! I made that post before reading the coolant hose update. BADASS!

Glad to hear its nothing major, keep rocking. I think a modded car is as reliable as you make it, rubber does deteriorate with age so its to be expected just sucky it made itself look like something worse. Can we get a boobies smiley and its code would be :shawn: or :doughtcom: |
