Sorry to hear that, Ryan :( I hope you made it out unharmed?

Wow, I'm surprised you got back on your feet and just jumped into another car for this weekend. You get props for that in my book.

That aside, I'm sorry to hear about the Stealth. At least you seemed to be in decent spirits when I was talking with you for that portion of the morning runs. Just keep your head up and view this as a chance to move on to a better car for the sport. You did amazing as it was in the Stealth, but I'm honestly looking forward to seeing what you can do in something else. You put on a good show in the Mini, for sure.

Re: Project AutoX domination!

I did make it out unharmed. I just wanted to make sure I was 100% ok before I started really talking about it. After the workout of an AX weekend, I can say I'm fine. I was probably out of the car 10 seconds after it was stopped. The car itself is a total loss. Front right pushed in about 5", front left out 2-3". I slid/spun into the trees sideways. I did drive it home about 3 miles after I got pulled out of the ditch and pulled the fenders off the tires. I did try to drive it out, but since it was wet, and bouncing off revlimiter, there wasn't enough traction. Tow trucks are expensive, so I wanted to spend as little as possible. It was an interesting drive to say the least.

I wasn't sure about how I was going to drive this weekend. But apparently fast is the answer. I did take 1st and 3rd in the street tire index, set the fastest HS street tire time both days. A big thanks goes to Steve G. for letting me even drive his car after crashing mine.

Nice shiny EVO's are a little out of the price range. I'm not sure if I'm done with 3S's or not. I like them a lot, but I also like winning. And I KNOW the 3S will never be a class winning car (except localy in SM, till someone else tweaks a car better). But still tons of fun to drive around an AX course. I don't want to be wining in a car I hate, but losing in a car you love isn't exactly the most fun in the world.

That's the BEST thing you can do. Get back on the fuckin horse, when she bucks you off. Crash a bike? get back on and ride. Crash your car, get back in one, and go push it. You did well.

Wow, sorry to hear about the stealth. I'm glad to hear you made it out ok and didn't get hurt. Congrats on doing so well at the autox events though!

I found a car for you, with a couple little mods, it smokes M3's and evos in a straight line and around corners. It can't be stopped.

Dude, I'd say strip both chassis, save your cash (I can help you part that bitch out like I did mine twice on 3si) and lets get you a new set of wheels.

You don't want to dump the time and money into putting yourself into something uncompetitive, you know this. Take this as an opportunity to move into something more what you want out of a track car. Or get a nice daily that you can double duty with.

Glad you are feeling good still :). That was a bad text to get that night.

With a couple little mods they're lucky to hang with stock DSM's ;)

Tell me about it. I was thinking you two were out tuning it and all I imagined was one or both of you being busted up. It sucks that I won't ever get to codrive it now. :(

I should have brakes and tires by the next MAC event at least, so if you need a ride then you're more than welcome to join me. Not entirely competitive in BSP, but surely not a slouch either. Maybe it's time for meth injection, cams, a bigger turbo and go play in SM.

Actually I was out that night with him, just earlier. We were working on revlimiter in 1st so it would stay on power... :scared: :(.

I am just glad Ryan is an experience driver. With the power that car was putting down and the conditions the accident happened in, it could have been MUCH worse.

E36 M3, do it!

Re: Project AutoX domination!

First of all, I'm really glad you're ok.

Speaking from lots of expderience, as everyone here knows, when you crash your baby it just gives you a chance to move up or for at least for a change. Cars are like women, well better IMO, one leaves you and you get another one, usually better. There's plenty of them out there and there's lots of different models to choose from.

Plus shopping for a new car is always fun as hell! Just try to stay positive about the whole car thing, but it sounds like you already rocked the auto-x this weekend so keep up the good work son.

It's on the list, trust me. I want to spend $10K absolute max. A bit less would be better. It might be a bit tough to find a nice M, but I think it can be done right?

First thoughts on potential replacement cars are:

Miata
E36 M3
Other BMW 3 series
Mod car/open wheel
Toyota MR2

Having driven a Miata and a Mini I want to drive a BMW. But first I need to start selling shit and see how that goes. If I can't sell anything, that will affect what I do.

Oh yea they can be found for under 10 for sure. I sold mine for less than 6. :( You should have bought it. I was sick of waiting for a buyer...

^^ Wrong thread. This is Ryan's project thread, not the autocross thread.

Sucks about the car, but really glad to hear you're ok. Good luck with the new car search, it's great that you're already autocrossing again.

You can find a 325i e36 or something similar for a cheap price. Doesn't have to be an M to build it up. ;)
