Re: Finally getting stuff done on our cars
Well it is a toss-up. We are approaching the land of full unknowns.
Maybe I'll start shreading intermediate shaft gears like on the DSM's. Maybe the new headstud solution won't work. Maybe the syncro's won't make it a full pass. Maybe the driver won't beable to handle the power and put it into the wall. Maybe the hoosier DOT radials will not be enough? Maybe we will have other drivetrain issues. Maybe since we plan on campaining 3 LSE cars this season, I just won't have enough time to get all the track passes I need in and it will be a long work in progress. :scared: Maybe I'll be banned from the tracks for going to fast :banhim: probably not. |
Re: Finally getting stuff done on our cars
Who owns the other car besides John's? Looks to be an exciting summer. Which track will you frequent more, Rock or Cedar?
|
Re: Finally getting stuff done on our cars
That would be my car. I'm not publically posting any info on the build until I get some time to get some work done, and get to a certain point (which may be this week/weekend). But I promise, it's gonna be something new that, I think, all of you will enjoy ;)

Re: Finally getting stuff done on our cars
Nice. Can't wait to see the specs of the project.

Lol.

Re: Finally getting stuff done on our cars
I thought you were going to keep it a street car and weren't going to gut it? Is it mainly going to be a track car now?

It will be a "clean" track car. Gutted would not describe how this car is, I would say of "not having extra crap not needed for a 1/4 mile car". :hide: |

Re: Finally getting stuff done on our cars
Walked back into the shop today, figured I would share more info.
So here are some pics of car #2. http://www.lseperformance.com/galler...serialNumber=1 http://www.lseperformance.com/galler...serialNumber=1 http://www.lseperformance.com/galler...serialNumber=1 Intake manifold and piping will be worked on this week, hopeing to have it done by opening track day. Yes that is a GT4202. Yes that is John's Galant vr4. The same car that went 11.66 @ 122mph on 92 octane in 2003! Back then it was the 5th fastest Galant VR4 in the WORLD, and it was on pump gas! We'll see how it does now with more than a 60 trim, shitty fmic, AEM with a street tune, HKS 272 cams, and well, 100psi per hole compression ;). Yes the runners are equal length +/- 1" up to the collecter. The manifold isn't 100% "done" but close. Also featured in those pics are a PTE Water to air intercooler, LSE Stage 4 shortblock, LSE Performance Stage 6 Race head (with 2mm oversized valves, top secret port job, and Crower 288 camshafts) and a Shep Stage 4 trans w/welded center diff. (Yes this baby will be able to dyno 2wd on dynojets). 2007 is going to be a good year for broken drivetrain! |
Re: Finally getting stuff done on our cars
Yes I will be working late this week trying to get done what I can. I am happy with how the manifold turned out, I just need to add the waste gate off the collector just befor the turbo, and weld the runners to the head flange, then a little porting and JET hot coating. I will be saving for the A1 research head studs, I know the ARPs with let me down, just depends on when. Fuel system will be A1000pump, fuel cell, and 1600s to start. I also have a nitrous kit to put on and the down pipe will be 4" and bend around the header, custom mounted 1g radiator and 3" catback, that will be removed for dyno/track time, or a run to Porkys. I plan on using 1 Tial 38mm with 1.6bar worth of springs, then turn it up from there, if the head studs hold I would like to run 30-35psi on racegas. I also have MT ET streets for tires, and I will replace axels as I break them. The clutch will be a custom southbend unit that should hold the power.

Re: Finally getting stuff done on our cars
Um, badass first thing.
oh second, maybe a custom aluminum for cooling? half honda or something small like that? to make more room for that beast. or are you doing some crazy top/angle mount radiator?!!! Good luck man. |
Re: Finally getting stuff done on our cars
I see the project has given your car "wood". :D Nice work John! Sounds like your faggish web guy should get the LSE1 page finsihed and a Galant page started.

We also need a 3rd and 4th project car page. Call them Ryan's Stealth and Chris's Honda. |
Re: Finally getting stuff done on our cars
Wow thats crazyness! All the cars this year are going to be insane, cant wait to see this thing in person!
|
Re: Finally getting stuff done on our cars
I plan on driving the car on the street so a full radiator will be used, just custom mounted a little more to the front then stock, that is the biggest problem with the GVR4 the radiator is closer to the engine then a DSM.

Re: Finally getting stuff done on our cars
Awesome. I was thinking that turning the exhaust up and shoot it through the hood would serve two purposes: 1. Aesthetics: it would look and sound wickid and 2. Function: it would be short and sweet and add downforce! ;)
I like it a lot. |

The exhaust goes under the car. Do you really think we made a complete exhaust manifold without thinking about exhaust routing?... Wrong shop dude. |
Re: Finally getting stuff done on our cars
I saw the GVR4 in person today its fricking awsome. great fab on both the header and the cage.

Thank you.

http://www.lseperformance.com/galler...serialNumber=1 Just mock-up set of pictures. Needs some minor trimming and finish welding. Remember guys, if we can do it on our cars, we can do it on yours! |
Re: Finally getting stuff done on our cars
WOW that looks pretty badass swanny!

Re: Finally getting stuff done on our cars
Could it be? Car #3?...
http://www.lseperformance.com/galler...serialNumber=1 Is it possibly a B24A? ;) http://www.lseperformance.com/galler...serialNumber=1 Nope, just a good old 4g64 mock-up motor. http://www.lseperformance.com/galler...serialNumber=1 Yes it does fit http://www.lseperformance.com/galler...serialNumber=1 AWD as well? Ut-oh... Yes that's right. AWD conversion, 4g64 conversion :). ...Oh yeah it is ;). |

Re: Finally getting stuff done on our cars
For those who havn't seen it, or don't know yet, that is my car. It's DEFFINATLEY not going to be ready for spring seeing as I havn't had much time at all to work on it latley, but the goal of having it ready and out on the street this summer is looking very promising
