Good stuff man! I wouldn't be worried about your engine so much, but I wonder how your transmission will shift at 10k.

Yeah the engine will be fine. I have a PTT twin disk clutch and a stage 4 shep tranny so theoretically it should shift at 10k lol. But I'm not sure how many miles are on the tranny so well find out ha. I know swift wound her out to 9500. So once she's tuned we can mess around and see how it shifts

Re: my new project

So a little update on the car. Last Saturday I was going to take it out for a drive and the belt was squeaking pretty good. I figured it just needed to be tightened but come on its me and my talon that would obviously be way too simple. It looks like the main mounting bolt for the alternator broke. Yes the bracket did appear to be just fine lol. I haven't actually dug into it yet I've been sick of this car ha. I'll be looking at it tomorrow night or Saturday morning.

Also I have a call in to get back on the dyno so I'm just waiting to hear back when we can get her back on the rollers.

Re: my new project

Keep putting easy miles on it, at least now you can do some light/low boost pulls with it.

4seasons69 05-03-2013 10:05 AM

Re: my new project

Low boost? What's that? Low boost on my car is 35psi lol.

But yeah I hear ya its nice to finally be able to drive the dang thing! I should be ffinding out today when I can get the car back on the dyno too

Re: my new project

Hope it gets on the dyno soon. At less you can drive the car now and you were able to fix your problem. If you can put down mid 700 HP at db you will be a fun race for the liter bikes. If you can bang some gears i am sure you will walk the bikes. Josh's evo would of done work if he was banging gears. Can't wait to see this car in action. Good luck on the dyno next time.

Dyno time is officially set. I'm getting back in on Tuesday.

As for banging gears we'll see how the tranny shifts when I can actually beat on her. Not sure I'll put up a good fight for the liter bikes on the tires I have on the car right now. I think I'll have to look into getting some drag radials

Save the banging of the gears for the track

The track won't be until this fall at the earliest. Unless someone wants to donate some slicks and trailer me out there for free

I do but I don't have rims for them. Plus I have them posted for sale right now. If I end up keeping them I'll eventually get rims for them otherwise if they sell I'll probably just get some drag radials for my kosei's

goodhart 05-03-2013 01:27 PM

Re: my new project

Are they 16's or 17's? Just get some of the M&H Racemasters and use them for the track and street.

My kosei's are 16's. That's what I was thinking. Or at least some type of drag radials. Drag radials might not perform as good at the track but this car will be seeing limited track time for probably the next few years. So i really don't need a dedicated set of track wheels and slicks

35 is low for a 6766, that birch will do 50!

Lol touché. But an untuned 35psi isn't worth the risk ;-)

I mean I thought Shane tuned it at low boost?

We were getting such a big drop in fuel pressure he couldn't really tune wot. I mean if my fuel pressure issue is fixed if I do a pull right now it should be dumping a ton of fuel and go really rich. I'm getting back on the dyno on Tuesday so I figure I will just play it safe and wait till the tune is finished. Hell I've waited a year already what's a few more days lol

turbotalon1g 05-04-2013 03:10 PM

Re: my new project

True. Make sure you learn something when you dyno, that way if something happens on the street you can adjust your tune and save your car.

Re: my new project

Good luck, hope you can get you goal!

Watch out for the liter bikes there can be a 10-20mph trap difference!

Or just get the wideband working and wired correctly and have the AEM do it on it's own.

If fuel pressure drops bad though, then no amount of adding fuel to the maps will make a difference. You could wire a fuel pressure sensor into the AEM also and have it adjust the fuel for small fuel pressure drops. Some factory ECUs actually do this. Some cars with factory fuel tanks and poor venting can go lean in the higher gears on a long run due to the fuel pressure dropping because vacuum builds up in the fuel tank and then the often already close to maxed fuel pump has to work a lot harder.

I would love to learn something while I'm there! but I hate when people sit and look over my shoulder when I'm working on their cars at work lol. So I usually just stay out of shanes way and let him do his thing unless he needs me to do something.

Thanks! I'm not too concerned with whether I win or lose. If I can hang with them I'll be happy. If I lose I lose :)

As for the wideband being wired in to the aem it supposedly already is. But I'm still waiting to get my new laptop. I'm not sure I trust the old fjo in the car anyway. I want to verify it's readings match up with what your dyno reads. If it does I will make sure to get it properly wired into the aem. If it doesn't then it will be replace and I will get the new one wired in properly.

I have been looking into fuel pressure gauges with a 5v reference and it seems that aem is the only one that makes one. so that is one of those is on my top priority of things to buy for the car.

Re: my new project

Well there you go, already has a small failsafe.

goodhart 05-04-2013 09:33 PM

Re: my new project

What about one of the AEM failsafe wideband/boost gauges?

Indeed!

This would be a good Idea but I would want to use it to replace my current boost gauge and it looks as though the aem failsafe only reads to 30psi.

4seasons69 05-04-2013 11:07 PM

Re: my new project

So I replaced the broken mounting bolt for my alternator today. When the bolt broke the spacer for the alternator relocation kit was lost so I made my own out of washers until I can order a new one from Jay racing. So the car is ready to go for Tuesday!

goodhart 05-04-2013 11:17 PM

Re: my new project

You could just use the failsafe as a wideband and keep your current boost gauge.

4seasons69 05-04-2013 11:36 PM

Re: my new project

I could but Idk if I could justify spending that much on a wideband that uses the bosch sensor unless I could use the boost gauge too

goodhart 05-05-2013 12:42 AM

Re: my new project

The failsafe features alone would make it worth it, unless your ems can already do that of course.

4seasons69 05-05-2013 01:37 AM

Re: my new project

I'm on not too familiar with aem so idk what kind of built in failsafes it has. I know Shane said it can adjust fueling based on afr and fuel psi inputs.

Well I had my buddy bring the car up to db earlier today. Then i went up and took it for a spin tonight. Everything seems good to go. So hopefully goes better than last time ha

Depending on how the day goes I'll try and swing up with a go-pro to get some dyno vids but no bike at the moment.

Good luck either way!!

Get a vid from inside the car, I don't get why for the love of god people video cars from outside when on a dyno, its boring as shit.

Get a dash shot and hopefully we can see the RPM/speed and boost!

In for 750whp!! (good luck)

That would be a cool vid! But unfortunately I'm probably going to be a little sally and be as far away from the thing as I can be hahaha. We'll see how it goes though.

Luck is much needed right now lol!
