Why BR7ES and not BPR7ES?

Do you have another stock coil to try? How old does your coil look?

Re: GsXtUrBo98's 2G project thread

You could have a bad plug. I know you said they are brand new but one could be bad. I had that happen to me before. You spark plug wires could be shorten out. You have a good battery and volts?

Better yet, what are their resistances?

Re: GsXtUrBo98's 2G project thread

Did you also try new quality wires?

GsXtUrBo98 08-15-2012 11:00 AM

Re: GsXtUrBo98's 2G project thread

I have Taylor 10mm wires that I bought just before Brainerd last year. I have an extra set of plugs that I could throw in there and see if it does anything.. One coil was bad last year so I swapped it out and all was fine. I have a brand new yellow top battery in my car as well.

Re: GsXtUrBo98's 2G project thread

No reason, I actually run bpr7es, but wanted to try br7es heard some good things plus seems like no-one stocks bpr's up this way. :(

Re: GsXtUrBo98's 2G project thread

Do you have a volt gauge to make sure you have enough volts? Somebody last year had a problem they werent getting enough volts. just throwing stuff out there try to help.

Shane@DBPerformance 08-15-2012 11:57 AM

Re: GsXtUrBo98's 2G project thread

We usually use the BR plugs on nitrous cars and maybe some crazy high builds. Might lose some compression ratio with the short plug though. :)

I don't.. Both times Shane tuned it I had a alternator cel.. I might just get a new alternator and see what that does.

Re: GsXtUrBo98's 2G project thread

What alternator should I get? I've heard a saturn one is good but also a galant vr4 one too? which is better? I want to get this thing ready for proving grounds this year! gonna be a beast if my plans pull through. I'm keeping my current setup but want to fix the break up issues and see if I can turn up the boost to make the 600awhp mark. I want at least 35 psi as I made 542awhp in shoot out mode on Shanes dyno. Whatever it takes and let er buck!

turbotalon1g 01-20-2013 09:03 PM

Re: GsXtUrBo98's 2G project thread

The galant one will just bolt right up, have you checked your grounds?
I'd add some too, it can't hurt.

GsXtUrBo98 01-20-2013 09:48 PM

Re: GsXtUrBo98's 2G project thread

Ya my grounds are legit. I guess i could add more but the alternator cel has been there for years.. Lol i know i suck ha ha

GsXtUrBo98 03-10-2013 04:08 PM

Re: GsXtUrBo98's 2G project thread

I picked up a new/used alternator from Nick (Cornfed2.4) but I'm running into probelms. No fuel pressure and I'm not hearing my fuel pump turn on at all... I am no wire wiz so this sucks.. I checked in line fueses and they all seem legit so I'm not quite sure where to start.. I know I should be checking voltage but I suck at doing that lol. Wiring is the worst of my abillities of working on my car.

I want this thing ready for proving grounds this year! haha

Is the car at your place? I could maybe swing over sometime this week or next weekend and help you with it

Re: GsXtUrBo98's 2G project thread

Maybe check the fuse on the boost a pump. Mine blew once which left me stranded with no power going to the pump.

Re: GsXtUrBo98's 2G project thread

+1 for what brad said. There is also the mpi relay under the dash that may have gone bad. It's a gold box located under the radio on the right side.

Same thing happened to be with your old BAP... Except I was at RF. I had to jumper wire it to run again and get home.

GsXtUrBo98 03-10-2013 08:08 PM

Re: GsXtUrBo98's 2G project thread

I checked all in line fuses including the BAP.. And yes it'a located at my place still. That would be cool if you were able to swing by and give a hand sometime this week.

Alrighty. Sounds good. I'm Monday and Wednesday I'll be free later in the evening, Thursday I think I'm working on the talon, and them Friday I'll probably be free and Saturday after work. I'll text you tonight or tomorrow and we can figure something out.

Sounds good man

Re: GsXtUrBo98's 2G project thread

The factory fuse for the fuel pump usually needs to be upgraded also when you use a BAP.

GsXtUrBo98 03-11-2013 03:05 PM

Re: GsXtUrBo98's 2G project thread

Is this fuse under the dash?

GsXtUrBo98 03-12-2013 06:35 PM

Re: GsXtUrBo98's 2G project thread

I replaced both in line fuses and as I thought, they were both good and still no power to the pump.. I would think that the in line fuses would blow before anything else would?

P.s the terminals accidentally crossed because some moron wasn't paying attention :/

Ok so my ecu is shit.... I talked to Thomas Dorris from ECMtuning and he sent me a link on what to look for in my ecu and sure as shit! Toast.......

I am in the market for a new EPROM ecu and have a few leads as of right now.

Re: GsXtUrBo98's 2G project thread

I also want to thank Shawn (4seasons) and Nick (CornFed2.4) for helping me with diagnosis and information on this. Thanks a lot guys!

Sucks dude! And no problem glad we at least got it figured out!

Does suck! Still want to see a few quick red 2gs @ proving grounds.

I'm trying... haha

Re: GsXtUrBo98's 2G project thread

Ok so I picked up a new eprom ecu from 1999gst tonight. Great guy! He pulled it from his running car today and even opened it up for me to look inside.

When I got home I plugged it in just for shits and gigs, not to see if it would start but to see if the fuel pump would turn on. NOTHING!!! FML.. At least I know that its not just the ecu. Next step I think is going to be replacing the stock relay under the radio. Mine is the little black plastic one.

Shitty

Re: GsXtUrBo98's 2G project thread

Is your BAP bad? Try hooking/wiring it without the BAP and see what it does. You can fry a BAP easy if wires were hooked up or crossed wrong.

GsXtUrBo98 04-05-2013 12:45 PM

Re: GsXtUrBo98's 2G project thread

I found a fried main fuse. Swapped in a new one and pump works! Now I need to get my new ecu socketed

Good to here you got it figured out .

95talonracer 04-05-2013 11:39 PM

Re: GsXtUrBo98's 2G project thread

So was your ecu bad for sure then or could your BAP be fried?

His ecu was fried. When you turn the key on the cel wasn't coming on and The ecu wasn't grounding the stock fuel pump relay. When I supplied a ground for the stock fuel pump relay the pumps would come on.

GsXtUrBo98 04-06-2013 02:01 PM

Re: GsXtUrBo98's 2G project thread

Yea thanks shawn. Plus when I opened up the ecu it was blown.

95talonracer 04-06-2013 11:53 PM

Re: GsXtUrBo98's 2G project thread

Ok that is good. I read before that the BAP is easy to fry if you cross wires wrong on them at all.
