Seen that before in a few mirages. If you just want a good stock one I have one laying around

Good to see it wasn't something more expensive. Time to get that baby back out on the road!

Re: 95 Talon TSi AWD

Thanks Mark. I'm still contemplating however; get two stock flex plates, clean everything up then put it back in and drive 'er or start cleaning, fixing and painting the front end plus engine bay.

The car needs a bunch of rear end bushings and I'm sure the same goes for the front. I may just put it up on stands and start buying suspension parts and the like as I wait to finish the other engine and put it in.

Well since it's so cold and I've been so lazy lately I just thought it was time for some exercise. I hauled the block into my basement apartment from the garage to help prevent some rust. Any who, my E3 block is all ready. Bored & honed to 85.344" then had it line honed with my ARP mains.

Besides ordering pistons, rods and bearings all that's left is to tap all holes :giggity:, fix one of the transmission bolt holes, clearance for the 2.4 crank then clean up the oil pump passages. Then find out what I'm missing and buy that. lol I'll hopefully be starting a nice job in the next few weeks. I hope the weather will start cooperating so I can get some of the engine bay work done. Then work on the suspension so I can actually have this done by the end of summer!

Re: 95 Talon TSi AWD

Well...fawk me. My truck pulled some horse isht less then 10 miles after finishing it. When I say finishing it I mean building the transmission with upwards of $5,000 in parts. Yeah...parts. The money came from what was supposed to be used for school this coming year. It is what it is though.

After dropping the pan over 6 times trying to fix it myself I gave up. I had a guy drive from my home town to pick it up with a Chevy C5600 roll-back. He plans to take it apart again and see what he can find. SO WITH THIS SAID: The Talon once again won't get the attention I wanted to give it but it is what it is.

This is one of the problems I have to solve or else I won't sleep at night after "finishing" this thing.

Looks good..right?

http://i467.photobucket.com/albums/r...ps6e45c22b.jpg

A little dirty..no rust though.

Looks about the same; dirty and rust free.

Take a closer look.

Re: 95 Talon TSi AWD

So...yeah! I may have mentioned this issue before but very brefely. This was not something my dad or uncle did! This is yet another great example of what "amazing" body work was done to this way back when.

Many ideas have gone though my head; replace the core support? Clean it up to make it look normal or do a tube front end? It is a tough decision. I wanted to buy a front clip from someone then decide from there but the guy who had one was in a rust to scrap it.

So I am here asking for some ideas. What does everyone else suggest?

I vote for tubed support.

I vote for not spending tuition money on car projects.

Fix your truck! Come get the front clip!

Well the money got spent on the trucks transmission which I rebuilt in an automatic transmissions class I had. In which we all had to rebuild a transmission.

I built one with parts mostly from them. Lol

Re: 95 Talon TSi AWD

I've been doing some thinking lately and have run into a minor problem. Air flow to different coolers/devices. The intercooler up front won't be a big deal, the ducting for my air filter will be fine (passenger side inlet) but what about that transmission cooler. There's no way it'll sit in the factory location. Maybe if I turn it to an angle but then what good is that.

My idea for a solution: Chrysler, as terrible as they were with transmissions made a helluva cooling setup on the automatic Cummins trucks. The cooling went as follows: trans. out/hot, heat exchanger (fluid to water/coolant cooler), to front air cooler then finally back to the trans. in/cool.

What does everyone think of this idea? Using the coolant as a source of cooling for the transmission fluid rather than an air cooler?

Unneccesary IMO

Seems like a good way to raise coolant temps.
Btw, got this for you whenever you got time to grab it

Re: 95 Talon TSi AWD

Is was simply an idea since there is nowhere else for the air trans. cooler to go.

It sure as hell keeps the 47RH/RE transmissions cool!

Time isn't an issue on the front end, it's the whole not having a truck thing that's phucking me.
