Adjusted the suspension a little today. Balanced out the rear since one side was about a quarter inch higher than the other, and lowered the front about a half inch to kill the wheel gap.

Also, got a radio installed yesterday. It's nice to have tunes again while I'm driving!

Probably gonna get the manifold and dump pipe for the turbo setup sometime soon, then all I'll need is the oil lines, and the coolant lines to get it installed, then still have to make a decision on what I want to use to tune it.

Yes, that is a bubble in the sidewall. I hit a chunk of something just before I took them off the DSM last fall. It hasn't grown at all, and doesn't cause any vibrations or anything, so I'm gonna let it go for now. If it starts getting worse I'll change it out.

For tuning options, I'm pretty much down to Nistune, or Megasquirt. I've got a spare 5 speed ecu I could send in to get the Nistune chip installed, or whatever they need to do to it. From what I understand, it's reasonably easy to work with, and should support my goals pretty well. For Megasquirt I would need to build an ECU, and I would have no idea where to start for that, or what sensors I would need to make it work.

What about jimwolf ecu and z32 maf? My good friend loved that setup on his KA-T. Stock shortblock made 377rwhp at 15psi with a Holset H1C, 92 octane

I'd like something a little more tuneable than a Jim Wolf ecu. From what I gather, those are basically a mail order tune, and my goals are a little higher than 377 and 15 psi. I'm shooting for 400+whp @db, and 20+ psi.

Go megasquirt do some learning, I just saw one installed into a eagle wagon that was carbed it ran great on megasquirt.

I have seen it on a cavalier too, I'm pretty sure that you can get them pre made for your car which would make life a lot easier of course as long as Shane can work his magic and I'm pretty sure thats a safe bet.

Haven't done much to the car lately, but I do have some parts on the way. I ordered a Fidanza flywheel and a Competition stage 4 clutch setup from DB, and a Tial 44mm wastegate from a guy on MNSC.

So it's been forever since I updated this, or even had reason for an update. After hanging out with a guy I work with last Sunday, I have decided to change the plan for the car, and will no longer be boosting the KA. He gave me a ride in his mildly worked over '84 Mustang with a 302 in it. We jokingly said I should buy a 302 and stuff it in my 240, and after some thought I decided to look into the idea a little further.

After some research, I've found that the 302 is almost a direct bolt in! All that needs to be done is to get a front sump oil pan and modify it just a little bit to clear the front sub-frame, and get a custom drive shaft made. I've seen 302s for sale for as little as $150, and entire chassis with a running engine for as little as $1000.

The nice thing about the 302 is that with iron heads, intake, and water pump it's only 50 pounds heavier than the KA, and I could find some aluminum heads, water pump and intake manifold for it, and it'll weigh the same as the KA. With mildly ported heads, a decent cam, an intake, headers, and a 650 double pumper, it should put me in the neighborhood of 350whp and close to 400wtq.

I'm still working out how I'm gonna do the swap, considering I only have access to a one car garage, and limited space in the driveway. Probably won't happen till the spring, but I think this is the way I'm gonna go.

Dude....if you are going the small block route do the smart thing and use a chevy LS. 300 to the tires bone stock easily.

It's way more work to do a LSX swap, and about 3x as expensive. I'm working on a limited budget here.

the 302 engines are very plentiful, tons of aftermarket support for them, and if it is an easy swap GO FOR IT! Just make sure that you find a manual trans for it instead of going automatic.

Are you going to keep the AC?
Power steering?

After it is all done, you could then take it to car craft where it would have a little more respect

BTW, even though it is fun to build your own motor, don't over look the possibility of buying one that is already built and has been slightly used. 302 race engines are very plentiful and cheap. 8 built rods for 5.0L are cheaper then 4 rods for a 4g63. Also I would see if you could stay fuel injected so that it is a little more DD. not that carbs are bad but you will get better fuel economy, cold start, driveability with Fuel injection.
