Re: Project AutoX domination!
They bolt to the chassis with a simmilar 2 bolt shock absorber. But other than that your guess is as good as mine. I could measure my other car if you want some dimensions.

So here is some BASIC info for the crash bar. From the mounting point on the chassis to the FRONT surface of the crash bar (at the mounting point) is 8.5". The center to center mounting distance is approximately 40 inches. The bar bows forward as well, pics in my winter upgrades folder in the gallery. If the numbers are similar anyone that wants to test fit one, I have one that is 4 nuts away from being off the car. http://www.dsmstyle.com/photopost/da...2096dimmed.JPG |
Re: Project AutoX domination!
Hit me up next time you are working on the car, i wouldn't mind a test fit or seeing this sweet beast again.

Re: Project AutoX domination!
I'll have to get out and measure mine and compare. If it's pretty close to fitting it would sure be a nice cheap lightweight mod for dsmer's.
You said the rear one is aluminum too? I wonder how close that is to a 1g as well. |
Re: Project AutoX domination!
I did the brakes finaly. Lines, pads, front rotor, custom rear re-surfacing. Apparently 3S rear rotors are so rare that the ONLY place in town that stocks them, only stocks one pair. And sold them to someone else and won't have them for another 3 weeks. A number of parts stores I called couldn't even get them. I took mine to to be turned, but one was under the minimum thickness. So I took them back an broke out the sandpaper. Ghetto, but better than having two very different pad compounds front to rear.
Other than tuning and swapping the CF hood on, it's pretty much ready to beat Chris's EVO at every AX event this year. :D |

Re: Project AutoX domination!
I will be having my rear bumper off of my 94 Stealth in the next weeks, I'll take measurements / weights of the rear crash bar. For those looking to retrofit, the 2g DSMs have a fiberglass / composite plastic-type front and rear crashbars that weigh next to nothing.

Re: Project AutoX domination!
Tuning went OK. It likes to break up in 1st and 2nd gear, but in 3rd it's just peachy. Boost is now in the mid 20's with intake temps about 10-15 over ambient. The IC seems to work as desired. Pulls pretty good. A few tweaks to figure out the low load breakup and it’s ready to rock.

Nice.

Re: Project AutoX domination!
So since Chris asked in the AX thread I thought I would post this up. I wreaked my Stealth on Wednesday night. Short version since I've told the story a bunch of times already. 3rd gear WOT+Throttle stick+hard braking+wet road+bump = locked rear tires. Locked rear tires+spin+ditch+trees= dead Stealth.

Re: Project AutoX domination!
WHAT!? Wow! Dude, That SUCKS! Pics? What will you do?

Re: Project AutoX domination!
Debatable. I am kinda thinking I might sell everything and get a Miata, or possibly an BMW 3 series. I do have a spare chassis I could swap everything to, but that would put me in an even more uncompetitive class, in an already hopelessly uncompetitive car.

Re: Project AutoX domination!
^dude I am really sorry. Hope you are ok.
Maybe take this as a chance to get something a bit more suited to your new hobby. Good luck with whatever you do, I was really hoping to see this. |
Re: Project AutoX domination!
That sucks man. You put a lot of hard work and time into that car.
