i am trying to solve a electrical issue here. the car is a 92 talon awd. when the driving lights are turned on, the tail lights and dash light does not turn on. headlights turns on. brake lights all work normal.

checked all the fuses underhood and kick panel, all good.
would there be any bad relay or the such?
would the light dimmer switch be at fault?

thanks for any help.

I'm no electrical guru, but I had a problem like that once and I found out the ground for my sub amp was not grounded properly and shorted out all the stuff grounded on the same body panel.. so maybe something (a bad ground cable, wire, etc.) is shorting out your lights? Hope that helps.

I had a similar thing happen to my in my 95 GST. Ended up being a fried dimmer switch. See if someone you know is willing to swap with you to test it.

I shorted Raptor's glovebox light and his Talon lost all the dash and rear lights. This doesn't help but it was a fun night.

i have a similar problem in my '92 TSI, the center/hvac lights don't turn on when i turn the headlights on. i am pretty sure that the rear lights work though.

The same thing happened to me. I had hooked up my boost gauge and a light through my stereo harness and it didnt seem to like it. When I got rid of that everything worked fine. It also could have been because I was grounding three things off one bolt. One of the two took care of it for me.

Check the taillight relay under the stereo. Almost all modern cars have the dash lights tied to the taillights so you know there's a problem.
