hey there, I just got my dsm like, a month or so ago. I was really enjoying it, till an oil seal or something blew and spun a bearing....oh well...welcome to the dsm life I guess, right? I'm not sure if I'll part it out, or maybe try to fix it...

so I was talking to the guy I got the car from, and he thinks maybe the balance shaft went.. he says it's a pretty easy fix though

The balance shaft that could have went is either a front one (not a biggy) or the rear one (connected to your oil pump).
