If I take my 92 TSi in to have the transfer case recall work done, are they going to give me a hard time about any mods? Specifically I dont have a catalytic converter, just a 3" straight thru exhaust, swapped JDM motor, FMIC, etc.

Not sure how you guys deal with this stuff... would it affect getting the recall work done?

You could just bring in the transfer case with the VIN number.

LOL!
Well then, take in the vehicle.
The recall is a safety recall if I remember correctly, so modifications shouldn't matter.
Just bring it to Brookdale ;).

Your mods won't affect your ability to get recalls performed, by law the dealership has to do them.

So how do they/you know the car still has the original T-case in the car, other than service records? I have not seen any VIN numbers stamped on the T-case.

The dealership brings it up based on the vehicles VIN #. They run the VIN and can tell if the car is still eligible.

but heres a question... Its ILLEGAL BY PENALTY OF ??? if you dont have a catalytic converter, correct? Is this something a stealership would report me for?

I realize service records will pull up a vehicle's history. The reason I'm asking is so I would know how to walk up to a T-case laying on a shop floor and know if it's from a car that was updated. Do they tag the T-case as "repaired under recall"? Is there a different casting number on the updated T-cases?
