I cant shift into 1st or 2nd from inside the car, but I can right on the tranny.
I have a 90 transmission, 90 cables, 90 shifter base, and 90 cable holder bracket (or whatever its called), all in my 93 Talon AWD.
At first I thought it was the shifter cables were bent, so I bought some other 90 shifter cables with the base and bracket, but the cable is still about 1.5 cm too long.
Any ideas as to what could be causing this??

1.5cm can be made up by adjusting the length inside the car I think... you could at least try it, that nut looking thing but its like an inch long, with 2 lil nuts at each end, on the shift cable. is adjustable.... You can loosen up the 2 nuts and then spin that big connecting type nut and both sides of the cable either go in or out.... just make sure to leave more than 1 thread in the connector, or it will rip out.... and make you think you broke somthing.....

Do you have the cables properly positioned on the shifter/levers? try www.vfaq.com for ajusting information. You shure the tranny doesnt have a bent shift fork when u got it?

Yeah, because it will go into all the gears when you shift, right on the tranny.
Ill check the VFAQ, but im pretty sure ive adjusted everything that can be adjusted.
thanks though!!

Well, if you are confident that you have adjusted everything to the best of where it can be, then you have other issues. Maybe the cable's got stretched or you screwed something up on the install.

Thats what I thought at first too, so I tried putting in 2 different sets of 90 shifters/cables, and I tried a set of 91-94 cables. And I tried a million different combinations of the brackets and cables. None of them worked, Im just going to modify the shifter cables a bit.
;)
Thanks!! :D

Can you shift from inside the car when the egine is off? This is without pushing the clutch in.
