Hi everybody I have a 1990 eclipse GSX. And my rear dif. just went out. Im looking for a new one but everyone I talk to needs to know what the gear ratios are. I there anyway to find out what the ratios are without opening it. I not familiar with the dsm drivelines. So I dont know if there are multiple gear ratios or what. Someone please help me.

Its whining a lot and grinding sometimes. I just brought it in and the said that the ring and pinion gears are filed and the pinion bearings are pitted. So they said I needed a new rear assembly.

All the 1G ones have two gear ratios, one for manuals, and the other for autos. Find the one that corresponds to what you've got and you're all set. While you're in there, you might as well get a 4-bolt rear from a 92-94 and swap the whole thing in. Also make sure you get the limited slip diff, but I think they all had them on the 4-bolts.

I've got a 4 bolt for sale minus the cups if you'd like. My thread is in the FS section.
