I know people have put 18s, and bigger, on 1st gen DSMs

Could you fit 18" x 8" rims (assume correct offset) without rubbing on the suspension (shock body/spring perch seem to get really close)? Well I guess with the correct offset, I think it has to be 42mm or more... well the more positive the offest the further the wheel will more away from the shock body, right?

Yes, + puts the rim further out, - pulls rim in.

Wrong. Zero offset means the mounting surface is even with the centerline of the rim. A positive offset moves the mounting surface towards the spokes of the rim, moving it in ward on the car. A negative offset moves the mounting surface towards the back/open part of the rim, pushing the rim out away from the car.

I have +32 and 17x8's on my 1g. Size should be the same as long as you size the tires correctly. I am running 235/45 tires.

i went from 17's to 18's on my 2g and my 60 foot times dropped between one and two tenths of a second. just something to consider when thinking 18's.

Uhm, maybe you worded that wrong? But from that I get you improved your 60ft times by switching to 18"s.

I'll never be the fastest, so I really don't care how much it'll hurt performance. boo frickin hoo. But thanks!
