i do not see it being produced. Mitsu has spend too much $ on the new 3.8 mivec to just slap in the tried and true 4g63 with a 16g and AWD.

Mitsu is retarded IMO. The new 4G is selling well and breathing a small amount of life back into them so I guess thats a good thing. If Mitsu brought back the 4G63T Eclipses and priced them in the low-mid $20k's I can only imagine they would bring back a ton of people to the Mitsu-camp and sell nearly aswell as the 1G and 2G cars did. They need to claim back the niche they once held position as king in (currently dominated by Dodge with the SRT-4): small displacement turbo 4-cylinder import. If people want a V-6 with displacement they'll buy a domestic run of the mill whatever from GM.

That looks a lot better than the normal 4G. Too bad it isnt being produced. They really need to bring back the 4G63T in the newer Eclipses. They're name is going history.

Think about this, The eclipse name is becoming much like the thunderbird name, the manufacturer is whoreing it out to every new creation they can come out with, good or bad, but the DSMers will end up like the old muscle car guys, they will remain steady to their tried and true 1gs and 2gs, if only the cars would last long enough to be called classics.

So whats the deal with it??? Evo motor and drivetrain? I'm not liking the ass backwards motor idea though. I like the way the motor sits in the 1g's and 2g's now. Basically all that picture was telling me is that looks like an evo trapped in an eclipse body. Lame. Its cool and all but bring back the original set up and it would be a lot better.

It's a SEMA concept car, 4G63 turbo, AWD, 400 horsepower. If it sold for what my Eclipse sold for new, I'd buy two of them, one to drive and one for a spare.

Same here, but i think Mitsu was thinking about everyone, even the ones who dont even know the difference between a sport car and a 2-door car (haha). I think Mistu has already tried to get the 1g and 2g dsmers back with the Evo and it did, almost. What they should really do is make the freaking body of the Eclipse better, seems like they were just having FAF enthusiast do it for them for the 3g and 4g. I will be suprised if they brought the 4g63T awd eclipse back though.

Why does it matter what side of the engine bay the tranny and timing belt are on? That "EVO in an Eclipse body" would more than likely have more power and handle better than either the 1G or 2G's did.
Straight up... If brought to the market with the 4G63 AWD Turbo look'n like this It would be our next sports car.
I don't mind the back end, not like I look at the ass of my car all that much anyway and it would be an Eclipse. There would be PLENTY of body kits to change it. LOL

I don't see them building an awd version, simply because they will be building something to compete with the EVO for sales $. I would love to see them bring a GST back though....I'd rock it with the new body. Just have to dump like 300 pounds of weight out of it...
