View Full Version : thoughts about 18G
That is what I meant by traditional. My apologies for not being clear with my connotation.
Traditional = old piece of crap? Must be something they teach in them there Iowa schools :D

I couldn't find that 18G deal anymore on FP's site. It seems to me the EVO3 16G is the way to go for a good street setup at only $539 plus $95 for porting (if wanted).
Back to the original question though, I say stick with the 18G thats already on your car and work on maximizing your setup around it since it sounds like you're lacking in a few areas.

wow...lot's of opinions, and I thank all of you for them. Maybe I should've been more clear, the turbo is a strait from mitsubishi 18G, not ported, not clipped. I've got the dp and 3" on the way, I'll let you all know in this thread what that does. Also have the boost controller coming as well, when that goes in I'll let you know of any changes as well.
If it's still a laggy POS, I'll dump it at that time. If not, I'll be a happy DSMer!
Thanks again for all the info and insight!

The old Greddy 18Gs were stupid expensive. Getting the 18G upgrade from FP isn't a bad option.

wow...not such a bad deal from FP for real. But dont you need good supportive mods to make a 18g / 20g turbo to make it spool fast like a 16g?

It's seeming like that's the case. I got the 18G in trade for my T25 and $150, so it seemed like a steal to me. I know the power's there, I just have to crack the code. I'm looking at my timeslips, and it's pretty funny...same ET, but I'm trapping like 5-7 mph higher.
