Hey guys- i was at the track today. Everything beautiful except that I'll boost to 26# right at the beginning of a gear and then she'll crest off to about 22.5# in the middle & top of the gears. I don't know if it's a boost leak or the PTE internal wastegate.

If you have a PTE turbo with an internal gate or have had one in the past, what were you able to run for boost and not have any wastegate problems. I guess i'm not sure how many psi the PTE internal gates are good up to.

Thanks.

Do you have any mods to the wastegate? I held 26 psi on my 50 trim with no problems. I never turned it up higher.

Hi Jet, no mods to the wastegate whatsoever. Completely PTE stock form. My first thing is to pressurize the system and check for boost leaks. If i don't find any, i'll look into the wastegate. I just wanted to see what you were able to hold.

Thanks.

Must be some pretty good boost leaks.

I didn't check it today. However somebody told me that maybe i'm experiencing a boost spike problem. Immediately at launch i boost to 26#. A second after that she drops to about 22.5# roughly. It's not like it goes to 26, then drops down to 22, 20, 18, etc.. Without leak testing, it's uncertain at this point. Not sure why I would be spiking if that's what it is. It's the PTE turbo with a cut divider, ported stock o2 housing and 3" exhaust. Perhaps early this week I will get to leak checking.

Ya that sounds like boost spike. Right when you gun it, it spikes up to 26, then quickly goes down to 22 where you have it set at. Some of the real crappy ebay MBC's I've used in the past gave me boost spike like that. The Joe P and the TurboXS ones I've used in the past cured the spike problem, so the culprit of my spike was the crap MBC's. What kinda of controller are you using

I'm using a Hallman MBC. I don't know if they are shitty or not, but that's what is on there. Maybe i should dump it and get something better ???

Make the hose as short as possible going to the MBC. That will help a little. That is part of the problem with the PTE internals though, they hold high boost, but will spike a little.

Thanks JET. I will shorten the hose. Truthfully the hose on there right now is a bit on the long side and could be shortened at least 5-6".
