Every now and my 1992 Eagle Talon Tsi AWD 5spd throws a Code 44: Ignition coil thingy. Today, I checked the coil, its perfect. I'm currently checking the power transistor, so far its bad (there is supposed to be no continuity in one spot, and there is!). Any ways, I pulled the ECU (non eprom sniff sniff) and I noticed a brownish haze coming from a big fat cap on the board. I cleaned it away with electronics cleaner and a q tip. What should I do, where should I go to get the caps replaced?

And also, could my leaking ECU caps cause the problem with my ignition system? Or make everything not work right? What happens when your ECU "goes bad"?

Hey Sleepy, I found a dude who has an EPROM ECU for sale, 125 shipped. Bad side, car will start 70% of the time thats the only problem it has.

Oooh ok. Hmm, I'd rather just get mine fixed. It looks like it just started leaking, there is no physical damage to the board I can see. And if I'm gonna sell my car (up in the air) I'd rather not put more money into it.

Anyone know of a local place that could do this? ECU repair work? Doesn't have to be an automotive place; some kind of computer repair shop?
