Sorry about the pic size!!! I don't know how to resize.

First off, this isn't really a tech post, hence the reason it is in the parking lot.

On Thursday morning I heard a wierd sound from the tbelt side of my motor. Not wanting to take any chances I drove a spare vehicle until I had time to look at it today. Well I found something that was interesting. The first picture is the way it should be, and the second is what happened to it.

Is that common? Is there something that can prevent that from happening? I had the one laying around from my old Talon motor that I put on. That one seemed solid, so hopefully it will last.

I thought this was wierd, but I am still a novice when it comes to the wonders of breaking DSMs.

They do break in that exact same place, over and over. I've heard of a handful of them breaking like that over the past couple of years.

Normal. Solution, a new one. They are around a $100 from the dealer. When the used one you put on gives up in a few years get a new one.

Mine did that last year just before I had to go and check roads for a rally. Shredded my belt. The rubber between the center piece and the pulley finally gives out. Normal problem. Rubber breaks down over time and when it is exposed to heat. Like Ryan said, buy a new one from the dealer. Easy install.

Yep, Cher just had this problem and he got a used one from me because he was stuck at Elite without anything. Like was said, it is rubber and rubber breaks down over time. It is good to check to see if it is cracking once in a while.

Happened on Jana's GSX as well. Not a hard fix, just belts and bolts really. New one is about 80ish.

also had this happen shortly after my ACT2100 went on my car... It kept throwing my belt I was confused as to why, till i looked at that pulley, I don't recommend driving it with a bad one, cause that outside part likes to head twards the motor, and shread Tbelts and Tbelt cases, like my rounded off Tbelt....
