My friend has a 1g in good condition. I could probably persuade him to sell it to me. But I think it's also an ESi. I know it's in really good condition, however I don't know how many miles are on it. I know its slow, so I would want to do an engine swap for a TSi. I don't know. I can't decide. I would have to make him an offer though. Please.. I need feedback!

save your money and just buy a tsi awd or gsx, it's not worth your time/money to do an engine swap, in my opinion...

Depends on how much he asks for it or expects for it. Does the chassis have any rust?

What do you want the car to do? Are you looking for a beater or something to build/race at a later date? A 4G63T swap for someone with little/no mechanical background and no tools would be challenging. AWD turbo cars go for as cheap as $2,500 for a not-so-great one and around $4,500 for a pretty damn nice one. If you want a car that you can build into something more serious, AWD is the way to go.

I'm sure there are lots of people that are willing to give you a hand if you want to build something, not that you need it, but it would help.

Don't buy it with the intent of swapping a turbo motor in. It wold be much cheaper to find a gsx/t for a little more or maybe even less depending on how much it is. If you wait long enough and look well, you could find one for about a grand. If I could get an esi with the motor already pulled for free, I still don't think it would be worth the time/money to make it a turbo. Some people think it is worth it if the body is in good shape, but not me.

buy it and throw a 14b on it and blow it up :)

I told you this time and time again, JUST BUY A BOOSTED AWD! swapping is a pita and its still FWD at the end of the day.

Thanks and goodbye

Straight to an Awd, dont F around and try to spend as much money as you can just to get it to a stock tsi from an esi... jus not smart. Y do you flip out so damn easily to Tiny T?

It is really a waste of time/effort/money if your intent is to make it turbo.

Agreed.
