I just installed a boost guage today and a stock 1G BOV and it spikes at around 16PSI and goes down to 14.5 or so. Is this normal for a 2G?
Thanks

What other mods do you have? But yeah its normal if you have a boost controller to do that especially on a fast spooling T25. I wouldn't worry about it as long as it comes back down really quick.

Yeah I don't have any other mods yet. Just the new BOV, Boost Guage and intake filter (K&N Cone Filter).
I just don't want my EGT's to be too hot and then burn up my valves! So I figured I would check on here and see if you guys ran your cars for a while like that.

You're fine, but it wouldn't be a bad idea to get a boost controller and keep it dialed in. I recomend the Joe P. MBC from www.boostcontrollers.com

Oh I misread the situation... you dont even have a MBC?
I remember when I had my stock 7bolt, and a boost gauge and some mods I was making like 14PSI in first, then in second it would go to 16psi/17psi in 2nd/3rd/4th/5th but I had upgrade I/C pipes and exhaust which I figured made the difference in pressure

I'm getting a MBC, I had one but it was a weird model so we didn't install it and I wanted the ball spring design S2kracka posted a link to. I should be getting it tomorrow.
The only thing that's weirding me out is (it could be my imagination) it seems like my vacuum has gone down like 1-2 PSI on idle, but I'm not 100% sure, that's not a sign of burned up exhaust valves is it?
My next step is to get an EGT gauge but I need to find a cheap exhaust manifold somewhere, maybe ported too.

If you have a T25 turbo, then don't worry. You can never keep that tiny internally gated pos at a solid boost level, unless you set it down at 10psi.

Yeah on my old 2G with the t25 I had it set to 17lbs or some shit and it would shoot up to around 20lbs for a quick second and then come right back down, and then after it hit 5000rpms it would beging to dropped because it was puking out. Get a different turbo or learn to deal with it, t25s suck.

OK thanks for the tips guys, I'll probably be using the stock T25 throughout the winter but installing an EGT to monitor the temps.
