View Full Version : Breather Filter Leakin' Excessive Oil

My breather filter on my valve cover seems to be leaking a lot of oil, more than I assume should be coming out. The PCV valve is routed into the intake manifold. If something is wrong, any ideas? PCV valve bad?

Yes a lot of oil will accumulate, normally the oil would end up in bottom of the intercooler. The PCV, should go to the surge tank / Intake manifold, like it sounds like it is.

The more oil that comes out of there means more blowby from the engine. Don't put your filter right on the valve cover, run a hose down behind the tranny, then put the filter on. Then the oil will mostly just go on the ground, not all over your engine bay!

would it make sense to have a breather go to a catch can (like tons of us already do) aand then run a line from the bottom of the catch can to the oil return coming off of the turbo? i guess you'd have to get creative with a welder if you are using stock stuff. i'm sure theres an AN fitting out there that would make it a relatively easy job

It could be your PVC, it could be stuck open. Take it off and blow through it, you should only beable to push air through one way. Also do a compression test, it could be worn rings. How many miles are on the engine?
