Lake Independance and Medicine Lake are places I've been (other than Minnetonka) in the Cities. Medicine is really dirty though and Independance is more a less a very big circle. My favorite place in the Cities is honestly Lake Minnetonka (I generally launch at Grey's Bay in Wayzata which is free and very nice). I'm not too sure where you could rent them from, a quick search on Google should solve that for you.

Yea Minnetonka is very fun because the waves get huge, and Im sure there are places to rent on it. BUT the traffic gets pretty rediculous unless your in a nice back bay or joining lake.

St Croix river is ok too because its nice and long and wide and not too many people. Dont know about rentals though.

Most all in city lakes like calhoun and nakomis and minneapolis lakes are motor free and you can only use a electric motor... just as an fyi.

I just booked a couple Jet Skis for a sat in Aug. Hopefully it's nice. We are only booked for 1pm - 3pm. So some fun time on the busiest time. Figured we don't need much, they are some big ass lakes.
